That 144-pin stuff seems a tad more than the nice, affordable 168-pin stuff for the towers, eMacs and CRT iMacs go for.
Considering that EVERY place I checked online (Crucial, RAMJET, The Chip Merchant and Memory X) had these particular DIMMS for the mid/high $40 range and that EVERY place I checked locally was selling them for $69 and up, getting the damn thing for $34 (after the rebate) seems pretty good to me.
I probably could've poked around a lot more on the Web and found it for a few bucks less. But I wouldn't have had it TODAY, and, to me, it was worth whatever $5-10 (MAYBE) I might've saved to have it in hand today, when I was wanting it.
Yeah, I was seeing the 168-pin stuff (both online and locally) for REALLY cheap (128MB for $19 and so forth), so yeah...if you've got a Mac that takes THAT type of RAM, you probably could get a good deal like TigerWoods says he did.
Oh, it seems a bit snappier. I notice it most when just scooting around the system (opening and closing windows, scrolling, jumping from one program to another, etc.).
Not a huge "OHMIGOSH!" difference, but more of a subtle, "yeah...this is more like it!" kind of thing.
I can now, comfortably, have Illustrator, Suitcase, Explorer, iChat, Mail, iTunes, Address Book, System Preferences and maybe another small app or two (SnapzPro or Transmit or whatever) all open at once, and bouncing back and forth between them all, there isn't that noticeable lag or "churning" that I experienced before with 256MB RAM.

Those would be details though, and it looks like we're not bothering with those.
