can't do email, can't get to homepage....would love to think it is for updates, but history shows it is just messed up...g

    It is getting rather old...they better offer current members a substantial discount when it comes time to renew, or I might not. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

    I think they may be doing updates for iLife actually. I think maybe they realized a problem with iLife integrating with .mac and so now they are working on .mac instead of trashing all the iLife products they have already packaged. I got my .mac at a discount when i purchased it but I agree they should offer some kind of discount when renewal time comes around. iDisk is hella slow that needs to be dealt with, i uploaded 8 megs of pictures to my iDisk account and it took way to long and I am on DSL.

    Nope. there's a new Microsoft SQL worm floating around. it's putting excessive strain on lots of different networks right now...It's probably not mac.com that is down, but some routes around it that are.

    Hmm maybe, but .mac is down the apple store is down and software update is down. Not all of apple is down though, all the other tabs still work. I think they are upto something...

    A lot of places are down. The simple explanation for the above Apple servers being down is this... Apple uses Akamai as a sort of relay/duplication service. Apple's web application based services like .Mac and the Apple Store don't use Akamai. Software Update also does not use Akamai.

    It wasn't .mac's fault this time. Eugene said what was causing it. My site was 'down' last night and it's served off a cube at the Univ. of Georgia. (It actually didn't go down, it was just unreachable.) It has nothing to do with bad .mac services.     Anyone can be the target of a DDoS attack.



    Macs might not function as zombies, but they can still be targets.
