Mac OS X Pro?

Apple's market share is shrinking.

The switching ads are a great idea, but the pro user will expect more.

How about a preference in the control panels that lets you select the type of mac experience you want.

Like, Basic and Advanced?

    Great thread.

Yeah, I'd select the basic experience. Just like everyone else would.

    Pfft.

Mac OS X is pro already. It's there if you want it, not there if you don't. You have the CLI, soon a final version of X11 will be running on the platform, but there aren't any "hidden" features that they either don't have available to all users or that they wouldn't bring to them if they wanted to implement them.

I think you might be suggesting adding more themes, perhaps. I have no objection to them so long as they are purely an appearance change, but I don't think Apple is into general theming as much as they are into, uh, more specialzed themes like brushed metal.

Maybe he's talking about having administrative accounts and basic user accounts for different levels of control over the machine.

No. Wait. That can't be it. That's already in the system.

Surely hamfisted has investigated the OS before posting an idea about how it could be improved??? I guess not.
