This could be an issue for other OSes that don't issue firmware revisions embedded in OS updates. As far as I can tell, the fix has been incorporated with Windows and macOS.

The only timeline they give is April 2017 for the fixes. So Apple's Kaby Lake refreshes are good.
Some of the Skylake Macs will need a "firmware update." Not sure how those are delivered these days -- might happen in the background during an OS update restart. I think the old days of distinct firmware updates are past, if this list is any indication. Apple will act quickly, as anything like this is a potential security issue, even if no known Mac software is affected.
