I'm guessing most people who would add an eGPU to their laptop would use some external monitor anyway, most of the time. And, while it might not match in pixel density of some of Apple's high end displays... is that a show-stopper?

I cannot find any info if an eGPU would work with a 27 inch iMac 2010 in the target display mode. Anyone knows anything?
In theory it could, since the 2010 needs active Mini DisplayPort and not Thunderbolt like the later ones. In actuality, it's a little fussy sometimes, so I wouldn't count on it.
