No one has a god given right to get to market first.
You can't expect Samsung to wait for Apple to announce first. Nor vice versa.
In fact, if the product is ready, it makes sense to align it with the Christmas season which is the only reason Apple is on the same basic release cycle.
People make fun of the Note 7 but the hard fact is that it was a very well received phone. It may have been a failure but it wasn't unpopular. The buzz around it was huge until the recall. The Note 8 will not be a step back in that sense and a lot of people already have it budgeted. They know it should be a big step up after the Note 7 recall.
Apple could bring forward it's announcement if it sees fit. They seem to be in the habit of pre-announcing things these days. The only reason for that would seem to be letting customers (previously left in the dark for years) know that they haven't been forgotten and to pre-emt moves by competitors.
All normal practice.
I am not sure I would use "God" and "Samsung" in the same sentence... or even the same post.

Well, as long as it was a popular failure. That makes all the difference. /s
And it certainly became unpopular, especially among the airlines and TSA screeners. A big pain for them, I'd say.

Hard to wrap one’s mind around that kind of thinking.
They really have no choice but to announce and ship before the 10th anniversary "iPhone8.". Otherwise they will be at risk for being compared unfavorably to the Apple product.
When did they announce last year's Note? What about the year before that? AFAICT there's nothing unusual about the timing.
Good of you to join the fun mocking Samsung on this Apple fan site ... oh wait ...
More useless news fodder. I certainly don't think the two products have that much in common to actually cause a conflict. An iPhone user isn't going to switch to a Galaxy Note because they're both being launched around the same time period. Doesn't the Galaxy Note usually launch around the time of the iPhone every year? Since the Galaxy Note 7 was announced sometime in August 2016, so I suppose the Note 8 being announced in August-September 2017 isn't all that unusual. I certainly haven't heard any cries of "delays" by the worrywarts for the Note 8 like they're doing with the iPhone X. I think someone is looking for a fight when in reality there's nothing to fight about.

Hard fact? They sold 30 thousand in the first two days with the preorders included. Apple sold 10 million iPhones in the same period. It was never popular and the note 8 will make no difference.
30 thousand?
I'm not a Samsung fan but I do remember reading that they had around 400,000 on pre-order and that before the implosion, the interest in it was supposedly the highest ever for a Galaxy (Note?) phone. I know every review I read for it said the device was excellent.

Yes the 7 was at the same time as this 8 launch I believe, but wasn't the feeling at the time that G7 launched precisely then (and too early for full QA apparently) to try to suck some of the news media's oxygen out of the air for Apple? Check out the launch dates of the Galaxy Note 5 and 6 if memory serves (and it doesn't always) they were not launched at that time, but earlier?

Hit the nail on the head!!! I don't understand why everyone in this forum is slamming Samsung for releasing their Note phone in their usual Aug-Sep timeframe. Do they all think that Samsung has to get their permission to launch ANY phone around iPhone's launch timelines?

There was no Note 6. As far as I remember, Note 3/4 were launched in September and Samsung pre-poned their Note 5 launch to August. So the theories of Note 7 releasing ahead of its usual timeline was only in the imaginations of Samsung critics.

Apple sells 5 million phones a day? You sure about that? Pretty sure Apple would have over a trillion cash on hand if that were true.
Hey, he meant launch weekend sales. And yes, it is true if you consider them as 2 days instead of 2-3 weeks from the announcement date to actual availability date. Not on a daily basis though!!!
Edit: He has clearly mentioned that as well in his post - first two days with preorders. Only you have misunderstood/twisted the facts to give a different meaning.

Simple question to you - what is the most important "advanced technology" that is expected to drive the "super cycle" for the upcoming iPhones? Edge-to-edge OLED display???? And who is providing them to Apple???? Which supplier is providing the most number of components to Apple???? Does Samsung really deserve such derisive comments in this forum when they are one of the KEY reasons for super-cycle?

Yup, not just the QA department but the design department who allegedly (I am not so sure about this though) made a last-minute design change to increase the battery capacity. By all means, it was launched at its USUAL timelines.

Why am I not shocked about their design abilities? We bought the high end three drawer, double door Samsung fridge. OK, I admit it, I was won over by the LED lighting .
The water filter connector was incorrectly positioned thus when the filter was in place no water couldn't flow to the ice maker or drinking water system. The only solution was to not use a filter. Samsung sent someone out but failed to find the issue (I figured it out a lot later). By the then warranty had expired. Now if only Apple made fridges ...
another attempt to pre-empt Apple's big day. This could end one of several ways - The Note is a magical product that gets back ordered for 3 months on day 1 AND the iPhone is a damp squib. - It falls flat on its face if Apple launch a really great product.
With things like this, I get the impression that sometimes Samsung acts like a little child when it comes to a forthcoming Apple device launch. They just have to be first.
Keep in mind that Samsung has suffered almost no negative effects for their debacle with the Note 7. Sure, they lost a couple of billion (pocket change) but their image and brand have apparently escaped any tarnishing for releasing a defective product that could injure its customers. Volkswagen is another example of the new world we live in. Just admit you screwed up, take a public tongue lashing or two, and is well and forgotten. Just go back to what you were doing and forget it happened. The public seems willing to forgive and forget. Unless it were Apple that this had happened to. That would have been a mass extinction event.
Out of the 1000+ different smartphones that Samsung has launched in the last 10 years, how many did explode? People in real world know the answer to that question and acting accordingly. What is so surprising about it?
If one of the iPhone models has a similar huge problem, of course it would affect Apple negatively lot more because of 2 reasons. 1. Apple has not yet launched 1000 different models for that to be considered as one off. 2. Samsung note series phones are a niche anyway, not a mainstream lineup (like the S series) . But iPhones are All mainstream phones. So the impact would be greater.
Given these facts, what is so abnormal about what happened?

Next time, try Miele (which uses Liebherr cooling components). They not only had LED a long while before most of their competitors, but the LED implementation was amazing.

The difference is that it was a catastrophic event for Samsung causing worldwide recalls and travel bans. The only saving grace was it was a phone and not a piece of equipment destined for an airplane causing them to drop out of the sky.
