    yes we do.

I was a lurker for about one year before I finally registered shortly before MWSF 2001.

Were good times then. Still are.

Yeah, I was convinced there was no way Apple would ever release the silly thing.

Then they did, and I bought one.

I just found two old articles about AppleInsider having a little run-in with Adobe over leeking info on PhotoShop 6.

    I found these two articles;

    <a href="http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/1/11353.html"; target="_blank">One: The Register</a>

    <a href="http://www.evolt.org/article/Adobe_to_sue_AppleInsider/1/2135/"; target="_blank">Two: Evolt.org</a>

    What ever happened with this?

I've been lurking AI for about a year now... Always found it 'the most geekiest mac place on earth' before that, but suddenly I just had to take part in the raving discussions..

I think I came alone for the first time when all those poems-rumors started surfing up..?

And hey, its great to read some AI history! Very nice! Keep 'em comming!

You mean the one that gets posted like once a week that I have to delete?

Plus, applenut did not get his 'ass kicked' in "Mercury Rising (" (although he did threaten to kick mine). He was just wrong, that was all.

I was told by a friend that I think was told in appleinsider chat in iChat that it was because the MacNN server that AI is on was pinged to the point of crippling it. I also believe that they told me the ping came from Apple themselves... But, as you can tell by my extensive use of italics, I don't know how much of that I should believe.</strong><hr></blockquote>

it was because Apple threatened to not let MacNN have Press Passes for MWNY 02 for hosting a "rumor site" stupid apple

I have been a member since Dec 2001, just before the MWSF 02 hype... THAT was a crazy week...

As far as I know, MacNN settled, and the rumor articles rather abruptly dried up, since the experience left MacNN poorer for the experience and gunshy to boot.

From what little I can discern, they've been sitting on inside information this whole time - almost every site on the Mac web gets some by whatever means, and the AI writers had contacts - but knowing dirt and being able to publish it without pissing off a very large corporation that you've already roused to action are two different things.

Here's what was going on with "Mercury Rising (" (applenut probably has his own perspective). There was a group of people that thought the PowerBook G4 (code name "Mercury") was due for release at Seybold in 2000. The Pismo was released in February and at the time, PowerBook updates were on a very slow update schedule.

So applenut basically led the group that thought the PowerBook G4 would be released at Seybold and I basically led the group that thought the PowerBook G4 wouldn't be released until MWSF.

A debate went on for weeks with applenut and I clashing all of the time. It actually got pretty heated at times up until Seybold. It was the longest thread in AI history until MWSF 2002.

TigerWoods99 made the thread. I think he made a typo, so that's part of the official thread name.

Well, I invented such famous characters as FrankG, Dorsal, Dorsal M. Dorsal was great until the great black out. then some dip sh!t took the name and I had to settle for Dorsal M AND convince everyone I was the original Dorsal. I don't regret a thing and take pride in especially pissing off Matsu!

The poster above is a liar. Admins, please verify our IPs.

I don't have time for this, i just got a shipment of 3 970 machines running at 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8GHz respectively and they need to be tested. Wow, up to 8GB of memory (333MHz DDR) and Firewire 1600. This is going to be a long night.

I'll try and post more info soon.
