sick of dock rollover effect

after approx 2 years, I have turned off the dock effect when you roll over the icons.



I dunno why, but I think the "prettiness" and novelty has finally worn off. I hate 'aiming' for the icons that move etc.



aaaanyway, anyone else changed their dock habits?



and btw, since its been available, i've had it transparent (the dock that is...)

    I moved it to the right side with itunes scroll thing along the bottom right.



    I always had the zooming off.

    I have never used the zoom effect, and have recently turned off the jumping animation on program load but turned it back on today.

    I gave up the dock for DragThing quite a while ago. Haven't looked back since.

    I have magnification turned on such that it's only at work when the Dock starts to shrink. I have the magnification size set to the same size as the regular icon size.

    ZO same here. Used to like it but turned it off. And transparent is just better. However, for some reason, with or without magnification my Dock skips when coming up. Dunno why but it lags on my PBG4 12". Just like DVDs...Probably the infamous 10.2.4...



    Multiple Docks would be nice.

    i have it just SLIGHTLY magnify, maybe 10 pixels or something...just so there is some movement

    I turned off magnification when I got my iBook. Not because it was slow or choppy, it's usually quite smooth... it just bugs me. Much like the pinstripes.



    Now I've adopted a left-edge dock too. Gives me more vertical room for browsing, though most applications (even Apple ones) are only semi-dock aware, as in they THINK the dock will always be along the bottom edge. So they resize to perfectly fit a bottom-edge dock, but they end up being under my left-edge dock. Not a big problem, it's not that big so I can always move stuff out of the way.



    I want one of two things - either a little grabber-tab thing for extending and retracting the dock, or the ability to turn the dock off completely in favor of a different dock.

    Dock zoom was always gei. I only have a few items, and that makes it annoying. However some of the docks on those Power of X keynotes make it clear when magnification is necessary.

    Or if you have a cinematic display?

    It's the only time I've seen zooming come into play. I have an "old" G3 700 Graphite iMac and I have it hidden on the bottom. I might get rid of it and find a hak for a more OS 9 finder/menu type.

    I'm with him i like it too....it's just one of those cool things that helps the user not get in there way as the icon goes back to small when you click on it and move the mouse away.....it's just another thing that windows people can't do... <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" />

    i like it but only a little like i said earlier



    its better with just a slight increase, when it gets giant, its REALLY annoying



    i think you people that dont like it would like it better if u did what i did and have it slightly increase in size...its just a nice classy amount of motion

    Heh, after about 2 years, I actually just turned application bouncing back on. I had turned it off in 10.0 on my G3 400 cuz it was soo slow at the time. But now it works nice in 10.2.4 with a G4 667.



    And I've always had magnification on. It's pretty.

    As for my Dock habits, I like the zoom. I think I will keep on using it. I'm thinking about trying DragThing though. I'll see how that works out.

    It works really well.
