PS: King, I'm really impressed by the number of threads you've been able to resurrect so far. There's several of them with Kormac posts. Kickass! And thank you, keep up the good work!
King: Are you using the <a href="http://www.archive.org/index.html" target="_blank">Internet Wayback Machine</a>? You need to tell us how you work your magic.
Yup. You got it. I recently saw a link to it on the NewtonTalk mailing list, and thought I'd give it a try. They've got a lot of the pages. I've finished going through and downloading everything they have. I'm just in the middle of batch processing them now so that images and links get linked up properly. I'll upload them to the server I've listed above later on today.
Everything I download is processed and posted at <a href="http://commons.ucalgary.ca/king/appleinsider" target="_blank">commons.ucalgary.ca/king/appleinsider</a>. When I've got some time, I might work on making them more navigatable.
Well, I'm not getting anywhere tryinng to parse out the topic names, poster, and dates out of the pages. I haven't been able to come up with a grep search pattern in BBEdit to get that yet. Anyone have any ideas?
No need to be sorry, King. I figured real work had taken priority. That's how life goes. Just you know that all of us AI veterans really appreciate your efforts. You deserve a big thank you, even for what you've already achieved!
<strong>Does anyone know where the Cube with all the stuff is located at? Maybe someone is in that part of the country and could do something about it?</strong><hr></blockquote>
That's the problem, no one knows where the Cube is.

I assure you if we ever found out where it is, there would be a raid on that facility
Sadly, the hosting company who had it, along with several other cubes, disappeared. Many people lost their entire websites. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

<strong>Wow, that's incredible, KCH. I gasp in awe at your 1337ness.
Excuse my ingnorance, but, uh, 1337?

I think it means "cool"
I like the color scheme. I kinda miss it. Maybe I'll go make a suggestion.
Jonathan: Are you planning on copying the pages recovered by King to appleinsider.com? I think that would be nice.

<strong>King: Any progress on this project since Tuesday?</strong><hr></blockquote>
Sorry, I've been busy with another project and I haven't taken another look at parsing the threads. I'm planning on trying again this weekend.
<strong>Sorry.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Unfortunately, the Wayback Machine doesn't have that one.
I was going through Forum 1, which was (and now again is) Future Hardware. Quite a few of the good Kormac threads are there. Kickass!
Now we just need to tranfer the files from King's server to the AI server and implement a searching mechanism of some sort.
Yeehah!
