Got my iPhone 8 in the mail 10/21/17. Lot's of sharp edges and light leaking from top of the screen. Not sure why apple product quality has fallen off. But with the price they are getting I really expected better. Returned for a refund, guess I'll try again next year.

So the phone must have been damaged while on it's way to you?  Why not exchange it?  I am not sure I understand what you mean by lot's of sharp edges, and light leaking from the screen? Please elaborate...
