I recently returned to AI for the first time since November and noticed that post counts have returned in my absence. That's fine with me, but my count was well over 500 before the boards went into hibernation last year - so why am I suddenly down to 20-something?

nothing from the old boards was salvaged as MacNN and their ISP/Server people really screwed up.

I know there was talk about the admins reallocated the post counts for people who wanted it done but I don't know if it ever happened

    (1) Beyond a point, wasn't really our fault, since the company the server was hosted at stole all the servers and data- not just ours. Google it and see. Of course, it was our fault for hosting with them, to some extent, but it's hard to tell these kinds of things.

    (2) We were going to, but everyone said that they'd rather start clean. So it goes.

Heh, they did not restore our post count. We posted a lot since you were gone and our post count has gone up as a result.

It's kind of nice being in the three digits. I look less like a loser.

I wish I could transfer my post count from here to Ars, where they respect you more if you have no life.

Dammit, I'm one post closer to the 4 digits now.

Point taken! Hey, maybe having a low post count again isn't so bad. I might be able to fool people into thinking I have a life

why did you take them away? it's actions like these that make me upset with the new boards. doing things just for the sake of doing em. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />
