    Personally I wouldn't use it and would immediately turn it off. Just as long as it is optional, I don't care whether it's implemented or not.

    The more of these things there are (ratings, photos, avatars, various signatures, karma, etc.), the more they take away from the true focus of the boards. And they easily lend themselves to abuse.

    As someone who posts almost entirely in Genius Bar: I am for it. I want to get little gold stars for helping out just like in kindergarden.







    A lot of the time I give advice and don't get any feedback on whether the suggestion fixed the problem or not.

    Maybe a cut-down version would work. If enough people vote for you, you gain "trusted user" status. The text "trusted user" would appear in the the sidebar of your posts. That's it. Maybe "untrusted user" and/or "very trusted user," but that's pushing it.
