    Hehe.

Now that it IS fixed, we can actually begin the transition and do some test imports into vBulletin.

I'm just confused. You all tried to go vbb and .... no one knew it couldn't be done or what? Not that I care that much.

It's been done, MacNN did it.

Nah, we (Or rather they, I've not much of a clue about vB or UBB) knew it could be done.

The problem arose because the UBB databases that hold all the member and post information had become corrupted, making it impossible to import the data into vBulletin.

It would appear that Brad has, I assume by some incredible stroke of lu... I mean genius..., been able to restore these files to their former glory.

I believe the problem is also exacerbated by The Powers That Be (Or Don't Be if they're too busy) being incredibly slow in forwarding the necessary information needed to give Brad and Jonathan direct access to the server upon which AI resides.

Belle is quite right. The biggest reason that we haven't been able to import to vB is because the UBB database had been horribly corrupted. In some cases, the database files had been wiped clean! Yes, they were completely empty (actually, they contained a single line break). That's why it took so long to get things fixed -- we had to figure out how exactly to rebuild everything based on what we *did* have. There are still some things that need to be cleaned up before a proper import can occur, but the biggest hurdle is over.

What makes our situation far worse is that this is, unfortunately, very true:

When vB arrives, total access will be much more important because.... well, it's a long explanation.

    *shrug*

    Yeah, thanks... otherBrad.

I'm still not sure about vB or the new-ish design. Both are improvements, sure, but I am reserving judgement on how much of an improvement either will be.

    Woo-hoo!

Just keep in mind the <a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=11&t=000242"; target="_blank">high standards</a> you've set for yourselves:

Rest assured that, if, or when, vB comes to AI, we will not have the same sorts of trouble, nor the aesthetic nightmare that's going on over there right now. Our position on it is that, if we are going to do it, it damn well better look right before we do it, with NO glitches.
