If this is true, put a warning somewhere very obvious on this site.

That sucks for those people. It's making me think twice about using Safari.

    BTW, why's this in suggestions?

Now thats rather scary! I think I will tread carefully for the next little while with Safari

I have discovered other little errors but very simple ones in comparison to this wild one!

Serioulsy, why rush to stamp "GM" on it when Public Betas are already available to everyone and clearly being actively updated? Chimera is a perpetual beta (sometimes worse than "beta" quality) app yet many MANY Mac users seem content using the current flavor-of-the-week builds. I suspect just as many people or even more will be satisfied with using beta builds of Safari.

i imagine that safari will get many updates before a "final" copy...chimera had nightly updates...i expect safari to get almost weekly "builds" for download for the next two to three months...with a 1.0 release in march...g

    Just a question.. they released v 51

Is it actually confirmed somewhere that this is the problem it fixed? Somone in another thread guessed that that was what they fixed, but do we have any 'proof' from apple's site?

    just making sure...

Isn't all software released nowadays BETA?

What's the difference between a bug in beta and a bug in a final release?

software is supposed to go thru 3 stages: alpha, beta, and gamma. alpha is basically just for 'gramers. beta has most of the features, and is in somewhat useable state. gamma is feature-complete and should be bug-free, to the point where production computers can use.

I know. But thanks anyway for reminding me.

I was just trying to be a little sarcastic with my question.

thuh's post is not even true. Clasically, there are four stages.

Development is where features are being discussed; multiple releases may look and work totally different.

Alpha is where the basic feature set is done and more features are being added.

Beta is where *all* features *should be* finished and bugfixing is being done.

    Final *should* be finished

Microsoft removed "Development" and added "Release Candidate", which essentially means you'll have to replace "Development" with "Alpha", "Alpha" with "Beta", and "Beta" with "RC" in Microsoft's cycle (which many others picked up for some strange reason).

just a guess: have u guys tried to rearrange/clean up your desktop items? maybe they fell out of the screen view, happened om my pc once.

I downloaded safari in a seperate folder so i guess i have no problems. Although suddenly safari wouldn't start up anymore, then i reinstalled (first deleted it), and it works again.
