How about some self control? Take some responsibility for your own action. Don't bring your phone to meals. Turn off your phone. Leave it in the other room.
Reminds me of a company that blames its failure on the actions of something Apple did recently. How do u expect anyone to take responsibility when our leadership doesn’t? Welcome to the new America.

Students (like their human counterparts ) are more like locusts... you get one idiot with a silly idea like this - soon you have two, then four - then the college campus is full of idiots. There is a reason why comedians won't play at college campuses anymore -- they have been taken over by a campus full of idiot locusts.

Think about it. Google was from two Stanford students. Google probably promised x amount of $$$ to Stanford if they can figure out how create a viral Apple hit piece. I say it is a success. Even their name is a clue that this is a hit piece. If Haagen Daz don't offer a better discount to Stanford students, they are next.

News to the Stanford students: It is actually possible to own an iPhone and NOT have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. installed. I own one and it works just fine.
I do use social media in a limited way to track groups, organizations and publications as a way of discovery. Look at Twitter once, maybe twice a day. Facebook almost never.
They are in for a shock when they actually have to join the workforce. My hospital system has a strict no cell phone policy anywhere a patient or visitor can see or hear you (onstage) and that means on or off the clock when you are on campus and this applies from the CEO down to the cleaning lady. They have all social media sites blocked on all computers. Amazingly, nobody falls dead because they cannot check their accounts and actually work at work.
They can use their personal devices in break rooms out of sight by patients, visitors and family members when at lunch or on break. That is it.
You would think the fact Mark Zuckerberg has his webcam and mike taped over would tell them something.
The future of our country. everyone thinks that they are important. And then they blame the technology company that builds these devices. Bunch of whiny college kids who’s parents are footing their cell bills, and then blame the smart phone makers when they are the ones failing their classes because Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, kik, tinder etc takes #1 priority over their lives rather than school work.
i don’t understand these peope. i mean, they were able to put down their phones for the protest, right? did any of them get tempted to look and peer into their phones while protesting? strange world it has become.
I think there is merit on both sides of the debate. I don't consider it Apple's "fault" that there are products out there that are constantly seeking your attention. But I do think Apple may be in the best position to provide tools to help with it. And while I consider that to be the case, I'm not sure I agree that a "protest" should be directed at Apple. To read the description, the Stanford students' protests consisted of putting down their phones...thus demonstrating why further tools aren't needed, lol.

I don't understand how it is supposed to be Apple's responsibility. The offending services (FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) are cross-platform and can be used on an iPhone, an Android Phone, a Windows computer, a Chromebook, or just about anything that has an internet connection and a browser. How is Apple supposed to know if you are using FaceBook in an app versus using it in a Safari browser window? Besides, unless Apple starts spying on the content of its users how are they supposed to know what is a legitimate use and what is an addiction? What about Android phones? Does anyone really want Samsung, Huawai, or Xiaomi getting transcripts of everything you do so they can evaluate if you are really using it properly?
I don't think these Stanford "geniuses" have really thought things out. At best Apple could provide something like a time-used printout using anonymized data but would have no way to control access without hurting legitimate users who need extended access. Any controls would be a useless as the "are you 18?" links on porn sites or the "are you a passenger" click through on a GPS app. You would be depending on the users' honesty, and anyone addicted is going to simply click through.
I've tried doing some research on this, since something seemed off about it.
The only stories about this I can find are on tech sites, like AI, MacRumors, 9to5Mac, etc. There doesn't seem to be any mainstream reporting (yet).
The website is a free domain, and whois is obscured via the provider in The Netherlands.
Also, the website is not just monochrome, but also monospace.
Searching on SSAAD gets more hits for a Sony Disk Management agent on Windows than it does for the group.
I'm still not sure what's going on here. It's possible it's a genuine group, but no-one's really paying attention to them. It's also possible that it's a prank, or performance art.
For the record, I don't believe Apple (or Google, or Samsung, or Huawei, or...) are responsible for "Screen Addiction".

Strangely, I can put my iPhone in do not disturb mode, and turn off notifications, and it doesn't bother me at all.
