No I will not wear those "earings" because I do not like to stuff my ears with some devices plus they leak sound like sieve. I prefer quality over ear stuff - not fashinable gadgets.
Spoken with the true ignorance of one who has not used AirPods. "But Apple is just fashionable form over function!"
Really? I wouldn't be calling out someone for "true ignorance" if you think AirPods have either the right sound profile or quality for folks on the upper end of "audiophile"... but fanboys will be fanboys
Calling them fashionable gadgets void of quality is the very definition of ignorance. His position isn’t supported by the facts — APs are incredibly popular and have high consumer satisfaction. Their device quality, good-enough audio quality and supreme usefulness is well documented.
I never claimed they were or are supposed to be “audiophile”. You just just made that up. And then you flung a personal insult like a monkey flinging poo. (in case you’re wondering saying someone who hasn’t used a device is ignorant to their value is not an ad hominem, but calling me a fanboy who stating these facts is).

What set of headphones on the upper end of audiophile quality are priced at $159.00 USD? What is the obsession with the usage of "audiphile" and the apparent snobbishness that comes with it here on the forums anymore? Airpods are light with great range, serviceable sound that are fantastic for calls and work for a whole lot of folks. They are NOT audiphile grade, but I think it is pretty ignorant to dismiss them as fashionable gadgets?
My girlfriend uses these ( Airpods ) everyday for a large chunk of her work day and she LOVES them. She doesn't wear them for fashion, or to say she has the "in" gadget as we are a little to grown for nonsense like that. She knows nothing of audiophile quality and doesn't really care. She is not a fan of IEM as she doesn't like anything that has to go inside of her ear. She also wants nothing to do with on, or over ear headphones because she doesn't like the weight or the feeling on her head while wearing them. They fit her well which I think is the biggest plus to getting the most out of Airpods and the range is fantastic which allows her to receive a call from a patient, or walk around the office freely listening to an audiobook or music. My point is they are a bit more than fashionable gadgets to the folks that these work for.
Anecdotally the only people I see anymore with wired headphones on in public are Beats people ... most everyone I happen to encounter have wireless headphones of various sorts (AirPods are particularly popular in my neck of the woods -- I literally can't go a day without seeing at least one or two people wearing them).
What about at home? There are NO wireless headphones that come close to the sound quality of good wired ones, much less something like the excellent B&O Play H6's (careful shopper purchased new for $30 more than Airpods). That tech just isn't there yet.
Thank you! These ( H6's ) are on sale on Amazon right now for for $250.00! I have been wanting to try these, but was unsure if I wanted to spend $400.00 on them for myself. It's easier for me to justify spending money on other people than it is for myself.

They are absolutely amazing. You won't regret the purchase. Check B&H first tho. If it's the same price you can save the expense of additional sales tax.
The usefulness of a given port does not suddenly vanish simply because Jonny Ive says so. And to SELL SEPARATELY that dongle when iPhones are already quite highly priced (and which no doubt has contributed to rather lackluster acceptance of the iPhone X versus the iPhone 8 models) is unwise. A penny saved is a penny earned, to be sure, but good PR has an even greater impact on the bottom line over time. Most of us have NORMAL headphones, which means they come with a 3.5mm headphone jack. And yes, some of us bought those headphones in the past, prior to Apple killing off the headphone jack on the iPhone. And, some of us paid a pretty penny for those headphones with a 3.5mm jack, and we will probably continue using them for many years to come, not only with Apple devices but many non-Apple devices as well.
So while we perhaps cannot change Johnny Ive's mind about restoring the headphone jack to the iPhone, we can send feedback to Apple at the following link to ensure our voices are heard in regards to their continuing to include a Lightning to Female Headphone Jack dongle FREE OF CHARGE, as it should be:
And for those of you who don't know what to say, here is the exact text I sent to Apple today:
In today's news I see word of you folks possible killing off the headphone jack dongle that currently is included free of charge, as it should be, with every iPhone. You may have killed off that important jack for better waterproofing; and if so, I can be somewhat understanding about that decision. But you also are obligated to help people who have expensive headphones already which have a 3.5mm jack. Some of us want headphones that work with non-Apple devices too, and therefore we need headphones with a 3.5mm plug. Be nice to us, your customers. Don't be excessively minimalistic, even if that's what Mr. Ive seeks. Apple admits the hardest thing sometimes is to say No. But please say No to excessive minimalism. Please.
It’s $9 and Apple just started allowing 3rd parties to make MFi-approved adapters, so those will likely be even cheaper.

Oh, for sure... use-case, convenience, and reasonable sound, I get. If they weren't so expensive, I'd certainly get a pair.
But, we don't even have to go into audiophile debating. A $50-100 set of cans are going to blow them away by orders of magnitude. I'm guessing that was the point. But, as ear-buds go, I've been relatively happy with Apple's offerings, I guess.
My problem with Air Pods - aside from health concerns - is that it is a lot of money to spend on something that might not last all that long, given things like the potential to lose one, water, or even ear-wax (eww!). I'm sticking with $30 wired ones and replace them once a year or so. Except that if my SE ever dies, then I have to go to Lightning, which means I risk damaging my phone. And, then to be insulted by Apple with 'legacy port' baloney is kind of that straw...

So get the fuck outta here.
