People don't believe in rumours. They take them for what they are. Nothing more and nothing less. They can give opinions on the rumour (supporting them, staying neutral or countering them) but only a fool would 'believe' in a rumour, much less put hard earned cash on it without something else far more convincing to go on.
Rumours are just a distraction at best. That's not to say fools don't exist but most know how to treat rumours without being convinced by them.
I don't know what is truth on the iPhone X, one way or another. I have a lot of Apple products, but I bought the X because I had such a hard time with the finger print. I absolutely love the facial recognition. It works so much easier. The device is expensive, but I love it. I've owned so many Apple Computers since the 128K and even bought a Newton, so I support Apple products. I can't say enough good about the X. It is a great piece of tech.

Some people do have an exceptionally difficult time with the fingerprint reader working reliably. I've seen this with other people for myself. It works fine for me.
I will regard my child raising a success if none of them ever decide to become a journalist. Scum sucking, bottom dwelling, narcissistic wannabes the lot of them. But don’t get me started on what I really think about the media.
Even DED? Isn't he a journalist?
Oh, I don't think he is or attempts to be a journalist. He's an advocate or polemicist in favor of Apple.
You learn something new everyday! Thanks. I just learnt a new word today!
Mark Gurman totally dropped the ball on this one. His narrative this last week has been so consistent and so certain about the iPhone X waning in demand; to the point where it seemed definite that he had a cast iron source. But these results just blew that narrative out of the water.
It’s hard to tell if he was under pressure from Bloomerg to pump the line, or if he genuinely believed he was onto something, or just took a punt. His predictions are usually rock solid but his credibility has taken a knock here.
I think it’s much simpler. Gurman is bitter on Apple, a pro troll. He wants to believe they’re failing, so that’s the narrative he pushes. In the past he suggested Apple changed a product just to spite him and his published rumor which turned out wrong. He’s nuts.
But he’s the one who gets leaks from inside Apple. No question that leak memo the company put out was all about Gurman. But even though he gets leaks he’s not very good at interpreting things or adding color. At 9to5Mac he didn’t really need to do that. Once he moved to Bloomberg he had to add more filler/context to his reports and that’s what he’s not very good at doing.
Doesn’t change my take on his personal motivation — to make Apple look bad. I believe it’s his actual agenda. Gruber calls him out on it.
People have been saying that iPhones were DOA since 2007. I don't know why anyone even listens to analysts anymore...
Did the Death Watch come before or after the Apple Watch?
way before. like, people were predicting Apple was dooooomed since before the iPhone was released.
When Apple was PPC-only, apple was doomed. When they switched to Intel, apple was waiving the white flag and crying Uncle and were going to end up being just another windows OEM like Dell or HP. (I actually had someone tell me this. Now he owns an iPad Pro and loves it) When Apple announced the iPhone they were doomed because it's overpriced, has no software and has no keyboard. When Apple announced the iPad, they were doomed because it doesn't have OSX and has no support for flash. It's "just an oversized phone" When the iPad Pro was announced, Apple was doomed because the iPad pro is just an oversized iPad and who cares about the pencil. It has nothing on wacom or whatever the surface is using.
Every step of the way, apple is doomed according to analysts...

With the iPad I think you forgot the claim it was "to cheap and mustn't be up to Apple standards" sign of doom.

Their not flying they're falling with style.
Before it was released, it was doomed because it was going to be $1000.
