Logitech debuts Magnetic Mount for Circle 2 HomeKit-enabled cameras
Logitech has taken the wraps off their latest Circle 2 accessory, the Magnetic Mount that allows the camera to easily affix to a variety of different locations.
Using the new Magnetic Mount, Circle 2 can easily attach to any magnetic surface like rain gutters, light poles, metal door frames, and refrigerators, and more. If such a surface is not readily available, an adhesive magnetic plate intended for a single use is also included so it can be mounted almost everywhere.
Logitech's Magnetic Mount works with both the wired and wire-free version of their popular smart home security camera, though there clearly are going to be benefits to the wire-free version.
We've spent a great deal of time with the Circle 2. While it isn't perfect, it is by far the most popular HomeKit camera currently on the market.

Obviously, don't put it a face-level on your front door where any passerby could walk away with it. But a rain gutter above your garage pointed at your driveway? Sure thing. Inside, it allows you to attach it to stuff without putting holes in your wall, either using the included mounting plate or on metal surfaces. In my home, I have this on the side of my fridge which directly points it at my front door. Great solution without having to damage my walls. Regardless of where it is mounted inside, if someone wanted to destroy the camera, they could. Whether it is on your fridge or screwed into the wall. It is straight up meant to be easily removable from the base so a magnetic mount doesn't change that, other than being more convenient to the user.
With the advent of great NAS devices today which can serve as CCTV recorders, I’ve opted to go with the Amcrest brand of PoE (power over ethernet) IP cameras. Put a PoE switch in the attic or a closet, mount the cameras wherever on the house, then connect them to the switch via an ethernet cable alone. Records video to the NAS.
