Hi all, This new version no longer allows external plug-ins to work, and I really need a LUFS meter for my narration work. Has anyone found a new in-built one in the new version? Or have Apple just completely screwed me over? Ella
    It's a bug.
The plugin issue is probably a bug, but it's hard to be sure since Apple has removed features from software in the past. Has anyone heard or seen anything from Apple confirming it's a whoopthie?

My plugins still work, so no complaints here.

Hm, I assumed the problem was universal based on the comments here, but maybe it isn't. I never use Garageband so I don't know what it used to look like, but just for giggles I installed the update and it seems like plugins work for me, too. I don't think I have any AU plugs other than what Apple provides, so maybe the issue is only with third-party plugs?

EDIT: Nope. I just tried a third-party plugin (some "lite" version of Izotope noise reduction) and that worked. I guess this is an issue only some people are suffering.

Today my Mac told me an update for Garageband is available. The update specifically addresses the issue of AU plugins not loading.

It says the update was issued on June 26. Can anyone explain why it didn't trigger a notice on my Mac until today?

By default, the Mac searches for updates once a week.

I presume the Mac version is only available to High Sierra users?

Not so... it runs happily on Sierra as well...
