Regarding today's story about an upcoming boycott of Apple and Amazon on March 1 due to their tenuous relationship with the NRA:  again you've blocked comments on that story because it's "political" in nature.

I suggest that this isn't ideal.  If you want to avoid political discussion, how about not posting "political" stories?  And since that's ridiculous, how about moving to a warning rather than prohibition approach.  It's ridiculous that we can't discuss a story that you yourselves bring to our attention.  Would there be a way to stop the comments from showing up directly under the story but still be available for those of us who choose to click on the comments link?

We're still working on rolling back some of the wide story lockdowns. You may have noted that we haven't just shuttered conversation on all controversial topics lately. As a result, one test worked fine. On the other hand, four stories devolved.

No, it isn't ideal. It is, however, a work in progress. Forum-goer behavior plays a part in the process.

No problem, we listen all the time -- even when you may not want us to :D

So we're not even allowed to discuss the Alex Jones censorship issue? That's terribly ironic.

Considering that there is zero chance that the commenting guidelines will be adhered to, this should not come as a surprise.
