“Back when the environment really was a disaster, and the bulk of the third world was living in abject poverty.“
The planet's on fire and most of the “third world” still live in abject poverty!
Glad to see Nader still active, challenging corporate power, and making cogent critiques. The status quo still supports capitalist inequalities and greed over responsibility and community.
Yea, damn capitalist Apple for indirectly providing toilsome factory jobs that you wouldn’t want to do to a million+ desperately poor Chinese subsistence farmers who were more than happy to get away from the farm and abject poverty, and who now earn enough money to send back to their relatives on the farm so they can eat properly and have enough money to get basic medical attention when they need it. Horrible capitalist pigs!
...libertarians, ...propaganda repeaters, ...conspiracy theorist commentators... idolize Apple for their stockpiles of money... "temporarily embarrassed millionaires" ... puritanical capitalist apologetics of anti-left commentators, ... using cartoonishly politically extreme language ....Is it all the money....

This can't be repeated enough since there seem to be so many who are grossly ignorant of it.
Gap between the rich and poor? The only people spouting that BS are either completely ignorant of history or perfectly aware of history and aiming to be on top of future history.
I heard the interview. The guy still uses a Smith Corona typewriter. No smartphone, no email, no Internet. He has no idea what he's talking about. Nader has been a joke even since Bush vs. Gore.
Ralph, if you are so shit hot at business, why do you not run the world’s biggest company and why have I never heard of you? People shouldn’t offer suggestions to others who are doing better than them.
... Such buybacks and high dividends were not initiated by Tim but forced by activist shareholders trying to extract cash from the company.
You can’t seriously believe that outside activists “forced” Apple management to initiate stock buybacks against their will. That delusional. They did push Apple management to take a serious look at it. In the end Apple, and Apple alone, decides what is best for the company, its shareholders, and other significant stakeholders.
LOL.... So, you changed what I said from "Activist Shareholders" to "Outside Activists" and then called it "Delusional". Neat trick!

What universe do you live in?
Your response had no relation to what he talked about -- and then you accuse HIM of living in an alternate universe? ROFL....

History includes war, starvation, oppression, epidemics, genocides, abject poverty etc... The middle ages of feudal lords and, later, slave owners and indentured workers, is the epitome of capitalism. The pinnacle.
We mitigated those abuses with democracy, human rights laws, the right to organize and a bit of socialism.
If you're going to use history as the basis for your argument, you should include all of it rather than cherry pick the parts you like.
