I don't see how he's "going along" with anything. It's the LAW in Russia. If he wants to sell watches there, then he can't have the rainbow on it. Apple had to either implement this, or not sell the watch in Russia. Apple's not supporting the policy, merely doing whats required by local law to sell product in that country.
This could be construed as hate speech, which is not protected by the first amendment, even if that applied to this private forum, which it doesn’t. I’m guessing you haven’t passed your US citizenship exam, or are otherwise living in the US illegally?
FYI: Not that it applies in a privately-owned forum, hate speech is most certainly protected by the first amendment. The Supreme Court reaffirmed that position 8-0 via Matal v Tam in June, 2017.
How many here would like to see Apple completely pull out of any country or region that has human rights issues? Wouldn't that mean a complete shutdown of the company, including in the United States? This is reality, people. You either work within the system or take your ball and go home. The true engines of change work within the system they have issues with. There is no hypocrisy here unless you have horse blinders on.
Until you're the one being victimized... just admit the hypocrisy, we don't agree with the actions/policies, but that shareholder value comes first.
Perhaps the default watch faces should just be watch faces, instead of political statements. If someone wants to make a statement they can add their own background in themselves.
Since when acceptance, tolerance and inclusion are political statements? If you feel offended by Apple celebrating diversity and people liking that, maybe you should reconsider your narrow view of the world. Intolerance usually comes from ignorance, hatred and fragile masculinity.

And why is it automatically a political statement? Oh, by the way, if the entire watch face is verboten, then one cannot surreptiously add it on his own. Endlessly interesting how those with nothing to lose always recommend giving up everything by those who do, no matter what it is.
In any case, the ban is no doubt being met with wild approval from American techie boyz.
It’s a political statement. To imply it may not be is a little silly.
