New builds of iOS 12.1 beta released to support iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max

Apple has issued new builds of iOS 12.1 beta to support the latest iPhone XS and XS Max that includes the delayed Group FaceTime feature.

The first beta of iOS 12.1 was released earlier this week for existing iPhones, but now that the iPhone XS and XS Max are available to customers, additional builds have been released.

This comes at the perfect time for customers eagerly receiving new iPhones today, as it is impossible to restore a new phone from a backup of a newer version of iOS. So, if a user's current iPhone was running iOS 12.1 beta, there is no way to restore from a backup of that device, running that version of the operating system until the new iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max is updated to the beta as well.

The iOS 12.1 beta seems to be a minor update this far, mostly just including support for Group FaceTime. Other minor changes were found in the code likely destined for the new iPads landing this fall, such as horizontal Face ID support.

It did hours ago as I couldn't do a Restore on my new XS from my iPhone 6 because the iPhone 6 was running the Public Beta, and my iPhone XS just has iOS12. I got it bumped up and did a restore. But a big thing I noticed was that my Authenticator Apps like Google didn't get restored onto the new phone. Same with LastPass Authenticator. LastPass, so long as you go in it and do a Backup on your old phone, you can restore it easily enough in the app on your new phone. With Google, more of a Hassle. You are going to need your old phone to get things changed. So don't just wipe the old phone. Go though everything on the new phone.
