As it traditionally does Apple has opened up the beta testing process, and has made the first public beta test versions of iOS 12.1.2, tvOS 12.1.2, and macOS 10.14.3 available to willing testers.

The move comes one day after the first round of developer betas. The first iOS 12.1.2 developer beta is build number 16D5024a, the first tvOS 12.1.2 developer beta is build 16K5524a, and the first watchOS 5.1.3 developer beta is build 16S5523a. MacOS Mojave 10.14.3's first build in the developer beta is 18D21c.

There does not appear to be any major new features added to any of the beta releases.

Access to the public beta of iOS 12.1.2, macOS 10.14.3, and tvOS 12.1.2 requires a Beta Software Program enrollment, and ticking "Get Public Beta Updates" under the Software Updates section of the Settings app's System menu.

AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly suggest users avoid installing betas on to "mission-critical" or primary devices, due to the potential for data loss or other issues. It is instead recommended to install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to ensure there are sufficient backups of important data beforehand.

I wonder if they fixed FaceTime where the UI covers the whole screen when trying to flip camera views and it takes many more clicks to do it now.

I hope they’ve fixed or are working on the partially broken 4G/LTE since iOS 12.1.1 PB 3 ... it’s still hosed in 12.1.1! Some apps can connect over LTE while others can’t ... sigh! Apple, where is your QA team?
