Not seeing the value compared to what I already overpay for from AT&T & Comcast.
Via AT&T I get access to their cell and extensive secured WiFi networks. My home ISP - Comcast - gives me full access to a network of secure WiFi nationwide. When you go overseas you use WiFi or buy a local SIM.
Within the US there are few places I go that do not offer either/both AT&T & Comcast WiFi, keeping me off congested LTE towers in urban areas.
The reason to use google Fi is the no additional cost 4g LTE data in something like 140 countries. When the plane lands you have LTE data and voice in seconds. Cost is the same $10 a gigabyte as in the USA. For USA only, it is too high for data. I recently used my Google Pixel 2 in Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. But I also carry an iPhone 6s which I buy a local sim to put in. High speed data is much cheaper with a local Sim. For T-mobile service in the USA, sign up for th MVNO Mint Mobile 1 year prepaid service - $20 for 8gb 4g LTE data or $25 for 12gb. These prices and data are available at the end of January.

Just swapped my son over to Mint. No noticeable difference from using T-Mo directly, except a whole lot less expensive. He just needs to remember to use wifi when at home or work to prevent data slowdowns over cellular if he happens exceed the allotment.

Those look to be pre-paid plans -- but still, they're very cheap!
Best part? No monthly charge for a data-only SIM. You can have up to 9, and you only pay for data. I keep a data SIM in two different iPads, one of which never leaves my house. But it's there just in case.
For data on the iPad, direct T-Mobile has the best offer. 5GB for 5 months, for $10. Pre-paid, no commitment. This offer is available only on the iPad directly. I have it on 3 x iPads.
