Anyone know how to add a standard AC outlet to my car?

I've seen lots of new cars coming with standard ac outlets for laptop usage, cell phone charging, etc. I can't afford a new car, so I want to try to add an outlet to my car to charge my cell phone and such. I don't need ridiculous amounts of power since I will not be trying to power a speaker amp or anything like that.

Anyone have any resources or ideas on how to start with this project?

Goal: Add AC Power Outlet to Front Seat area

    try here or here .

If you want to keep the cigarette lighter and have an AC outlet, I would talk to a mechanic.

My mechanic hardwired an inverter into my car and it works fine (except for the fact that the inverter died...).

If you really only need it for charging your cell phone, I would just get a car charger. You can find a nice one with hands-free for a lot less than you would pay a mechanic to put in an AC outlet. You can also find laptop auto chargers.

I think you could pretty much get both for under a hundred dollars.
