I echo the sentiment for Christopher Bangle to be shot. I can't imagine what he's going to do with the X-series sport utility vehicles, arguably the last remaining good designs of the pre-Bangle era. My brother will be going to art school for automotive design. He hates Bangle with a passion.
Hard to say definitely until I see it in person. It's a bit more aggressive even picking up hints of the Z4 roadster (the side door panel).
Not sure about the headlights though...starting to look kind of rice rockets instead of the classic standard look.
Personally, I'd still take the A4 design. More modern, understated, but still sporty. But they do need to remove those ugly grey panels along the lower side sills and bumpers.
Rumour has it the will do that for the '04 release.
This makes the new 7-Series look good, and that's quite an accomplishment.
I agree with SPJ, that the X5 is going to be utterly ruined when Bangle get his hands on it. It's, in my opinion, the best looking SUV out there right now.
I agree, Since decades BMW made very good looking classical cars. Bangle make ugly futurist cars. For the sake of BMW, if i was the boss i would fire him.
For the design of luxuary germans cars here is my list in this segment:
The rx7 had a great exterior and a disaster of an interior, just too cramped, but it did look great on the outside. What it needed was a nice modern small block v8 nestled inbetween the front haunches.
he he, the rx-7 isn't one for comfort, not doubt there. a friend has one and we work on it all the time. it's fun to tinker with. our next step is going to be replacing the rotors. not sure how that's going to work.
i'll be interested to sit in an rx-8 though. i like the idea of new engine designs/concepts, epsecially in such a nice package.

I'm 6 feet tall and I didn't have any problem with the interior. Of course, if you're taller than that, I can see where it could have been a problem. I'll pass on the comment about the v8 as you're probably baiting me. 8)

Although, on second glance, this new 5-series has a Volvo front end.
BMW Z3 Hood
Audi from the windshield back.
Must get rid of Bangle.

Someone please keep Bangle away from it.
