PS: Here's my own desktop, also at 50%.

There's got to be a more elegant way than Grab to capture a screenshot... I guess I'm not the power user I pretend to be.

Thanks, EmAn. And Mac Help tells me that Command-Shift-4 works too. Wow, it brings up a nifty cross-hair, with which you can select a particular area for a screenshot. Is there any way to make it save in a format other than PDF, e.g. JPG? GraphicConverter couldn't open the PDF to resize it.

Preview is there for all your graphic converting needs!

I use DropJPEG (http://www.kainjow.com/dropjpeg.html) to convert screenshots quickly.

    Doesn't resize or anything, though.

I use Goldberg. It's both faster and more powerful than Preview.app Will open the .pdf, resize it, then save as .jpg in one fell swoop.

Thanks, Jonathan and serrano. I'll give those two software programs a shot later in the week.

This happens on a friend's mac as well although when I use Grab it automatically saves the file as a .tiff

Actually, Command-Shift-3 (and 4) save as PDF, but Grab correctly saves a TIFF file on my desktop. What I don't like is that Grab has to be the active app (as far as I can tell) to take a screenshot.

You must be using a really old version of GraphicConverter, then. Version 4.something added PDF-viewing support.

Can you change the size of your desktop (anything below 600 pixel wide) so the thread won't look bad.

But seriously, who would ever do that to a car. . . Even to a car with bad balance and chronic understeer, that's a crime.

Ironchef!!!! I want that picture! If you don't mind, please send email.
