More Americans need to understand that China is no longer the China you learnt about when you grew up. Even for the Chinese, the country is changing so rapidly that they often get lost in their own city due to massive new constructions and redevelopments, same holds true in terms of its economy and commercial/retail markets and technologies. Trump and his hawks are misleading the people into believing a trade war with China is easy to win, let alone lying to the people on who are footing the tariffs (American businesses and consumers). Cleverly handing out the largest tax cut in history and then getting all that and more back through this sneaky mechanism. It's the Americans who are being hurt and lied to. As for Apple and other major American businesses operating and earning big there in China (eg. GM and Boeing), they are bound to get hurt whether through government responses to Trump's 'extreme pressure' or sentiment within the society. To think otherwise is just naive. For two major economic powers on this planet, the choices are win-win or lose big for everyone.
Completely ignoring the fact that China is also a regional military power, noted for "acquiring" disputed territories of sand bars and small islands in the South China Sea, in contravention of the UN, and creating military bases.

They are also the fastest growing navy in the world, in tonnage, and their quality is becoming an issue for the West. Do yourself a favor. Read up on the Pacific War, and then extrapolate what will happen when China decides that they want to rule the region (which extends to the Mid East and Africa even today).

I assume Mr. Trump will compensate Apple’s losses in the trade war he started out of his vast personal wealth. /s
Maybe we could bring back Obama and let him crash the economy.

How does Huawei fit in with any of that?

Huawei Marine lays ocean floor communications cables. It doesn't have military submarines - although I doubt it will be long before some US senator sees a Huawei threat there too. LOL.

Sure, if only that was what Obama did, but he came into office precisely because of the collapse of the economy during the Bush II administration, saved it, and for the record, Trump just continues that "longest expansion" which started in June/July of 2009.

Still, credit where due, Trump has 18 months to torpedo the economy and drive it into recession. Perhaps starting a war with Iran will do that.

Actually, Australia and other nations in the Pacific, already see the threat from Huawei undersea cables, and actually were attempting to block the cable from the Solomon Islands.

You really are naive, and poorly read, I might add.

"Completed in 1974 as a Sturgeon-class attack sub, the Pentagon specifically upgraded the Parche to break into Soviet communications lines. Between 1978 and 1979, the submarine reportedly tapped into cables in the Sea of Okhotsk north of Japan as part of a mission dubbed Operation Ivy Bells.

The Navy, with strong input from the NSA, was first sending Parche to Okhotsk to plant a second recording pod … to greatly increase capacity at the tap site,” Sherry Sontag and Christopher Drew wrote in Blind Man’s Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage. “She was being sent, in part, to prove herself before anyone dared to send her to that other, far more dangerous sea."

Yeah, we tap undersea cables, but so do the host countries where they make landfall, and the operators, like Huawei.

Not having to use a Chinese PLAN submarine to tap the cables is a huge plus having Huawei on site.'

Until I posted about Huawei Marine a while ago you didn't even know it existed. As for the Solomon Islands problem, it was probably me who brought it up here.

The problem, once again, was the US pressuring other countries to break deals. Sound familiar? In the end that contract - wait for it - went to a US company (something I've also mentioned here too). Sound familiar too?

Adam Townsend definitely shouldn't be on your list if sources for information on Huawei! (Unless your goal is, as he says, bar fight arguments. LOL).
