Any 3.5" IDE drive works fine. I put the WesternDigital 120Gb 8MB buffer in front of the stock Seagate 80GB drive without any problem. Just set it to "cable-select" jumper liked the user guide mentioned. So ATA/100 drives work ok.

    Kenneth,

Is the stock drive a Seagate Barracuda V, or a IV?

It is the Seagate Barracuda V model ST380024A to be exact. I found it noisy while reading and writing.

    Kenneth,

Mmmm, that's interesting... Seagate make a big deal out off how quiet their Barracuda Vs are.

So now I know that I shouldn't go out of my way to get hold of a Seagate drive, over a IBM/Maxtor/WDC etc.

    Thanks for you feedback Kenneth!

Heh, if you're interested in mega-storage, CompUSA has a one day sale on a '175 GB' Western Digital HDD for $199 with $100 in mail-in rebates.

These will fly out the door...

EDIT: Doh, some gotchas...if any of you buy the drive online, make sure you order it with items you know for sue aren't back ordered...and make sure you order it with enough tim to let them process it. The rebate goes buy invoice date, not order date.
