The Wonderboom 2 is IP67-rated against water and dust, and when not floating can be submerged up to 1 meter (about 3.3 feet) for 30 minutes, according to UE. Its predecessor was IPX7-rated. The sequel remains drop-proof up to heights of 5 feet.

Performance-wise the Wonderboom 2 is claimed to be louder with stronger bass, and in fact offer an "Outdoor Boost" mode tuned for that environment. When paired with a second Wonderboom the speaker can produce true stereo -- it won't however pair with other UE speakers such as the Boom or Blast.

Battery life has been extended to 10 to 13 hours. UE has additionally switched up the product's colors in favor of two-tone "athleisure" schemes -- these include "Deep Space Black," "Crushed Ice Grey," "Radical Red," and "Bermuda Blue."

Your headline and premise are wrong. The waterproofing remains the same as the original WONDERBOOM. From the original WONDERBOOM specs: “Enjoying your music around water? No problem – the UE WONDERBOOM has been IPX7 rated, to withstand depths of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.” This is the same as the new WONDERBOOM 2, because the IP liquid rating remains at a 7. What’s new is that it is now IP 6 rated for dust. So... Waterproofing has not been improved, but dustproofing has.
