Health Canada tells users to ask Apple when they'll get the Watch ECG app
The federal health organization is telling users that as far as it's concerned, Apple's ECG feature has been approved, so now it's just up to Apple when Series 4 Apple Watches in the region will get it.

Apple Watch Series 4 users in Canada are still waiting for the ECG feature to be launched, and now Health Canada is telling people to press Apple about it. The Canadian government's health department has been replying to tweets saying that it has approved the feature and implying that it is now down to Apple to bring it to Watches in Canada.
According to iPhone in Canada, the Canadian government has been providing occasional updates over Twitter, but has now specifically directed readers to Apple.

The ECG function launched in the US in December 2018 and then in Europe and Hong Kong in March 2019.
Apple confirmed in May 2019 that Health Canada had approved the feature and said that the function would be released there "as quickly as possible."

Ah but the immediate self-gratification entitlement has always been strong in techies. Canada dragged ass and only approved this is in May, so now that a month or so has gone by people are blaming Apple!? LOL. Here in enterprise software land a deployment is often planned a month or two in advance.
Also, most Canadians — something like 90% — live close to the US border. Why not just wander over the border and get one here, if every Watch owner in Canada so badly wanted the feature?
Held accountable? For what? Telling people to make inquiries of the only company who can answer the question?
User either need to unroot their Canadian account, get a US based credit card and update as an American account. Or apply a separate US account only for the AW4. I asked.
what I don’t understand is why Apple don’t listed the ECG function as “health suggestion” while applying for health permit? So there will be not legal responsibility. Just like a weight scale will tell you your BMI is too damn high based on your weight.
2. Canada isn’t the last place on earth to get this - Australia still doesn’t even have a hint of it, neither does most (if not all of Asia!)
Apple will probably release it with the next .1 update to watchOS - currently in beta testing. It may even get OTA activated outside of that, due to this announcement from Health Canada.
Yes, it’s sad you don’t get all the feature set - But it clearly stated that this would not be available at time of release, and that when it did come it would require approval from the local approvals boards.
