Apple is on its seventh round of developer betas for its milestone operating systems, with new builds of iOS 13, iPadOS 13, watchOS 6, and tvOS 13 now available for testing.

The newest builds can be downloaded via the Apple Developer Center for those enrolled into the test program, or via an over-the-air update on devices running the beta software. Public betas typically arrive within a few days of the developer versions, via the Apple Beta Software Program website.

August is usually a time when the period between build versions shortens, ahead of an expected release to the public in the fall. The sixth-generation builds were issued on August 7.

The third iOS beta saw a variety of changes, including updates to Notes, Health, and Home, as well as the FaceTime Attention Correction feature. The fourth introduced smaller Home screen app menus, a Rearrange Apps option, alterations to accessories in Memoji, a bug fix, and other smaller tweaks.

The fifth brought with it sixth featured new splash screens, App Store changes for updates, game changes, folder alterations, and a Control Center toggle for dark mode.

AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly recommend users don't install the betas on primary devices or hardware they deem as "mission critical" at all, as there is the highly remote possibility of data loss or other issues. Testers should instead install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices as a safer alternative, and to always make sure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.

Update: Apple has released public beta versions of iOS 13, iPadOS and tvOS 13.

Is it just me or the movie previews don’t have any sound?

Anyone else curious that macOS Catalina betas aren’t being updated? Noticeable because developer beta 5 crashes a lot more than 2, 3, and 4 did...

We are. And, we don't have any answers, I'm afraid.

My guess is some possible modifications of some of the additional privacy protections based on feedback. The pop-ups for every app needing permission to do their jobs are starting to get a little crazy.
