Tokyo and Beyond
For Tokyo Apple will update all of its laptops (iBooks and Powerbooks). Processor speed bumps for the iBook and Level 3 cache for the Powerbook.
They will also revise the iPod: A new 10GB model with a line input (mic input) so that you can record from a stereo directly into your iPod and also use the iPod as a portable dictaphone. The 5GB model will stay as a entry-level unit.
With the introduction of the LCD iMac the G4 Tower with a 15in Monitor has become almost obsolete. Thus the new entry level monitor will be a 17 in. Cinema Display, complemented by a 19in Cinema Display, and of course the legendary 21in Cinema Display Reigns as king.
Beyond Tokyo this is what we are likely to see in the next year. An iPod with a color screen which works in conjunction with the much-anticipated set top box, likely to be coined the iBox. This unit will function similarly to a TiVo, but with Digital Camera Connectivity. Of course it will feature Firewire, and a hard drive somewhere between 50 and 100GB.
Using MPEG-4 the unit will compress video to perfectly match the iPod's display. Thus allowing you to watch "Friends" on Friday morning during your metrobus ride to work if you missed it the night before.
Expect the G5 towers in July (MWNY) in a casing that will be reminiscent of an oversized toaster with shiny white plastic similar to the one used for the iPod. Monitors will be repackaged to fit this design language.
Many eagerly anticipate that apple will jerryrig a 17inch LCD to the iMac base. It won't happen soon (ie in the next 6months) but it will happen before the end of the year.

I seriously doubt we'll be seeing any new computer hardware. I will agree on the iPod tho.
Here's hoping!

What is it about the phrase "We won't be updating the quadrants for a few months" that you don't understand?
The stuff is almost believeable but then he includes things that just would not happen such as L3 cache in the powerbook. L3 cache is not supported on the processors the Powerbook uses and it would also add to the price and cause even more heat/power issues.

How can the 21 inch ACD reign as king if it has never existed before?

iMac Sales Success blurb,
iPod Sales Success blurb (+ new mod),
Photoshop 7X demo,
The importance of Flash MX,
Remote Desktop demo,
Os X update, (not literally - just talking about developments etc).
There's no build up, unlike the frenzied MWSF - which is good... Low keynote less expectation... But you never know...

Very good feature addition because it shows Apple listens to its customers and critics.

Very Very Cool Idea. However, I don't want to watch ANYTHING on the iPod's screen. Can you say "Magnifying Glass" or "Eye-Strain?"

Jesus, Apple will get creamed in the press for introducing a "toaster" look-alike. I don't like the idea.
Stop mentioning Anne Widecombe....I'm getting moist.....
Can hardly wait
I do still hope for something Japanese-like, like a nice rush of powerbook/ibook goodies; perhpas a Sono PhotoBook-like attachment for the Japanese iBook I purchased last summer in a fit of lost-willpower.
This is getting interesting...
Apple is being very secretive though. Check out the Wired news article.

Maybe Steve has something big under the kimono after all.
