Apple provides developers with gold master of watchOS 6

One day after the gold master seed of iOS 13, Apple has provided what may be the last test version of watchOS 6 to developers, prior to the public release.

The latest Apple Watch software build can be downloaded by developers in the beta-testing scheme via the Apple Developer Center, or as an over-the-air update for hardware already using earlier beta builds. A public beta version of the release is expected to arrive soon, and will be available through the Apple Beta Software Program website.

The release comes 15 days after the ninth beta release. The eighth builds were provided on August 21, while the seventh were on August 15, and the sixth on August 7.

Even at this late stage of testing, both AppleInsider and Apple itself strongly recommend that users not install beta software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the remote possibility of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to make sure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.

The release of watchOS 6 is expected on September 19, alongside iOS 13 and iPadOS 13.

"Since when has Apple Watch ever offered Public Betas?" I was headed here to ask exactly the same question.

Not surprising. This series will be a big seller, especially to a lot of people who've never had a Watch before.

I'll upgrade when wOS6 is here, but I wonder what I'll get on my S2? Also curious as to what S4 owners won't get from wOS6.
