Brydge 10.2 brings aluminum keyboard to seventh-gen iPad
Accessory producer Brydge has issued a new version of its keyboard accessory for the seventh-generation iPad, with the Brydge 10.2 Keyboard introduced as a larger peripheral made for the slightly longer and wider Apple tablet.
Made to fit the latest generation of iPad with a 10.2-inch display, the Brydge 10.2 has a larger body produced from a single piece of high-grade aluminum. Much like the Brydge Pro, attaching it to the iPad is performed via a pair of hinged mounting points on either side, which can move between 0 and 180-degree angles, the keyboard can act as a front cover to protect the iPad when it isn't in use.
The keyboard offers 1.2mm of key travel, with the keys also offering three levels of backlighting so it can be used in low-light situations. At the top is a row of iOS special function keys for turning the iPad on and off, adjusting the screen brightness, volume, player controls, the home screen, a quick-lock button, and one for summoning Siri.
The unit connects to the iPad using Bluetooth 4.0, which Brydge claims allows for fast pairing and "lag-free typing." Battery life is said to be up to 12 months on a single charge, and includes iOS battery management integration to reduce the power drain.
Shipping in October in a choice of Silver, Space Gray, and Gold, the Bridge 10.2 will cost $129.99.
