When Apple did their big dive down to the $140s late last year I told my buddy that when/if Apple hit $500 I'd buy him a Tesla. After 2019 I'm getting a bit worried!

Not worth worrying about stuff like that. You don't owe your buddy anything.
It probably wouldn't hold up in a court of law (even if they had this admission on AI), but he did make a promise. The ethical person would honor their statement.
I once lost a bet to someone on this forum. I tried to pay up and they wouldn't[t take it so I donated the money in their name. It wasn't a lot (maybe $20?) and I have no idea for whom the bet was made.
That's very nice of you but a Tesla isn't $20 it's just hyperbole.
The amount doesn't negate the bet and I don't think that something that is both tangible and obtainable (especially when we're talking about stock value growing over 3.5x, not to mention dividend increases as a result) that his comment was an exaggerated statement. He's even stated in this thread that "he's getting worried." Again, when he loses this bet and if he doesn't honor the bet he probably won't be accountable to anyone but himself, but I don't think for a second that it was said in jest.
PS: Here's an actual bet I'll make to you with a promise to honor shall that day come: If I ever have enough extra money to buy Dell I'll buy it, shut it down and give the money back to the shareholders." I also agree to do that for Google, Microsoft, and Samsung Electronics.
No fun being Toni. But, analysts can do good work. I know a little bit about this. My AAPL basis is under $1, post splits. Why? I did the work, questioned management hard, and saw a long term strategy that I believed in. So far, so good.

look like 2019 and 2020 are the years to fry/burn short sellers (both apple and tesla). We saw the happy dance of musk, where is tim dance movement? frankly, waiting for special payout....(cash neutral?)

Bravo, AppleInsider!
