Apple on Thursday offered an inside look at Apple Sanlitun, the company's latest retail location in China.

Apple Sanlitun

Teased on Apple's regional retail website last week, the Sanlitun outlet is located in the Taikoo Li mall in Beijing. It replaces Apple's first store to open in China, which closed its doors on Tuesday.

Just steps away from the original Apple Sanlitun, the new location is twice the size and features a number of firsts including an integrated solar panel array positioned on the store's roof. The system will power the outlet which, like other Apple facilities, runs completely on renewable energy.

"This store sets a new standard for Apple Retail in China and we're thrilled to build on our history in Beijing," said Deirdre O'Brien, Apple SVP of retail and people. "We look forward to operating Apple Sanlitun, and all of our stores around the world, with the health and safety of our customers and teams as our top priority."

Like other flagships, Apple Sanlitun includes a Forum, Viewing Gallery, and Boardroom. The forum will host Today at Apple sessions, while the Viewing Gallery on the grand upper level looks out over Taikoo Li's central square. Boardrooms at Apple retail stores are dedicated sales and support meeting spots for small businesses.

Architectural flourishes and materials sourced from local businesses complete the store's aesthetic fingerprint. For example, the outlet's 33-foot glass panels were made in Xiamen, while the floor is covered in Padang Light stone from the Shandong province. Planters on the west terrace hold Sophora japonica trees, the official tree of Beijing. Some 185 team members work at the Sanlitun location.

Apple Sanlitun opens on Friday at 10 a.m. local time. The company notes standard Chinese coronavirus protocols are in place, meaning customers should expect to show and scan their personal health QR code upon entry. Apple is also implementing a mask requirement, temperature checks and social distancing for visitors.

In related Apple retail news, the company on Thursday opened an updated and relocated store in Reston, Virginia. The new storefront, located next door to the previous outlet, is noticeably larger and features the usual accouterments like a large central display and all-glass facade.

Sorry all you fearful, angry China haters....
China is here to stay -- it is the world's largest market and soon the world's largest economy -- even if it makes Bill Barr's head blows off...

The China haters can continue to whine and make up their false stories about the supposed evils of the country -- even have Trumpian name calling fits.
But, intelligent, responsible companies like Apple won't be fooled.   They will proceed to do the right things.   The smart things.

It is totally wrong for a person responsible for enforcing US laws to make comments on Apple and Hollywood. Apple and Hollywood violated no laws doing business in China. If this government cannot be checkmated in November this great nation will fall into a state like the Nazi Germany.

It’s really laughable that people in this administration would take issue with US companies doing business in China when the US and Wisconsin governments gave so much to Foxtron . . . with nearly nothing to show for it, except a photo op.

No one can predict the future. Countries are slowly starting to hate China for who they are. Your prediction was better last year, this year things have shifted.

Guys, my joke was the irony of Apple opening a Store amid a pandemic. It wasn't anti-China.

The pandemic in China is over. China haters will say their numbers are untruthful. But how you explain the fact that Apple has reopened all Apple Stores in China?

The China Haters get their news and information from China Haters.  It makes for a self-sustaining positive feedback loop -- until they step out in the real world.   Then the friction of reality tends to clog the gears of that great machine.

Taiwan is part of China.  Republicans haven't figured that out yet.  Eventually though they'll give up on their latest fantasy and join the rest of the world.

Republicans are playing party ideology to fool Americans. In fact most of the disputes between US and China are political ideology differences between three political parties, CCP, Republican, and Democrats. Ordinary Americans could care less on these disputes.

Actually, I think the Republican dispute with China is less about ideology and mostly just political expediency.   Starting a cold war with China provides multiple advantages to them:
--   It distracts from Russia who continues to attack our country to aid their re-election.   "Look Over There!"
--  It impresses their base with how (supposedly) tough and strong they are.
--  It makes it appear that they give a damn about American workers by claiming they're "bringing the jobs back to America"

Every dictator and wanna-be dictator needs an enemy to distract the people from their own failings and corruption.   Trump picked China.  So, he did what Trump and Republicans do best:   they fabricated a smear campaign.

The only thing the U.S. has to fear from China is that China is beating us at our own game:   free market capitalism and will soon replace us as the world's largest economy.

Americans do care. Sorry, you’re wrong. China has been destructive to the American economy for too long. The idea that people should be under total control of their government is what we don’t agree with either.

This is a political ideology. If what you said is true, why Americans are buying made in China year after year in such large volume? The truth is most Americans don't care. Because China is providing Americans with cheap high quality products that they cannot find elsewhere. For example, Homedepot sells this eighty pounds

Heavy Duty 6-Tier Wire Shelving Unit made in China for only $89.

You are correct!   It is political ideology.   And, like theology, it needs no facts behind it or basis in reality.   And, it doesn't.

China is no more an enemy of the U.S. than Google, Microsoft and Apple are enemies of each other.   They are competitors, not enemies.   There's a difference -- except in the eyes of the cult.
