Your MWNY Predictions

Posted:
in Future Apple Hardware edited January 2014
Mine are:

iMac jacked up to either 900MHz or 1GHz.

iBook jacked up to 700-800MHz maybe even a G3 (probably be before MWNY.)

PowerBook jacked up to 733-867MHz, decent graphics card, 40GB standard and 60GB BTO (also probably be before MWNY.)

PowerMac G5 released at 1.4GHz top speed, DDR RAM, fast bus, Gigawire, slightly new iteration of SuperDrive.

All will have built in bluetooth

Mac OS X 10.2 release.

iPhoto 1.x

AppleWorks 7.

It's hard to make preictions for it because I think the chances of hardware updates occuring between now and then are quite good for some products.

I'll be a bit general but maybe a bit more specific later

    PowerMac update

    Mac OS X 10.2

    iMovie 3

    iPhoto 2

    New device

    end of show

You will not see the G5 until 2003 earliest.

MWNY will see a modest speed bumps to the G4 line. Something like 1 Ghz, 1.2, 1.4 perhaps w/ a revised mb packed w/some of the G5 features on it. In otherwords, a super G4 to go out in a bang.

Price bumps. I believe Stevie boy has inadvertently stumbled onto a sure fire way of breaking the pre/post keynote 'wait to buy' cycle. By bumping prices at every keynote, Apple will encourage the faithful to buy that mac now before it gets even more expensive!

It's too early to reasonably predict anything. I believe that the earlier poster (sory forgot who) is right on in the statement that there will be a few updates to some lines before then.

    A Note On Another Matter:

Wait until the week before when all the crazy fvckers start up with all there G5 mumbo jumbo (that's not going to happen), and start writing down their names so we can give them total shit after words for spreading that false crap around.

That's what I'm going to do. I'm never going to stop saying that these individuals are false rumor spreaders.

I'm tired of reading their crap before every show, and then watching them bitch about their own rumor not comming true every fvcking time.

    It's rediculous.

Okay let's make it from here to MWNY not just MWNY.

alright then, by MWNY and including it I expect to have:

1.) Powerbook G4 update with the specs I mentioned in the other powerbook thread (800Mhz, radeon 7500, higher res, etc)

2.) iBook update. I'm really split. I don't know if they are going to go G4. My guess would be no but I can see them going G4 as well. I'm going to have to say 700Mhz G3 with radeon are going to be the big changes

3.) iMac prices cut (possibly lower than original prices)

    4.) iMovie 3

    5.) OS X 10.2

6.) DVD Studio Pro 1.5/2 (whatever they decide to call it)

7.) Possible speedbump of powermacs to 1.2Ghz but I strongly doubt it and think PowerMacs will wait for next generation chip at Seybold SF in August/September

8.) a new digital device (most likely a digital camera with 2GB toshiba 1.8inch drive)

Whenever the PM goes G5, I would bet that eiterh a few eeeks prior to that or at the same event, is when the iBook will go G3. With OSX as the boot-up OS, and since it is designed to take advantage of G4 (and greater I assume) I think they want to move forward ASAP. OSX runs fine on my machine, but I am sure a G4 would fly...

Also hopefully they will bump the minimum RAM (DDR hopefully! to minimum 256 MB accross the board.

    G5 Pleezepleezepleeze!!!!

I waited for "Beyond the Rumor Sites...Way Beyond" and what did we get?

    A 133MHz speed bump to the towers...wow...

I expected a leap in the towers on the same order of the new iMac. We SHOULD be using 1.2/1.4/1.6 GHz G5s NOW!!!

    1. PowerMac G5 or IBM processor? -new enclosure-more rectangular for rackmount-white and stainless like the iMac. Choices will be 1.0, 1.2 or 1.4 Ghz

    2. OS X 10.2

    3. minor speedbumps for the TiBook

    4. minor speedbumps for the iBook

The tower is really way overdue for a redesign more than any other product in the matrix. It has the same basic design as the B&W G3 from 1998. Apple has been very predictable these days. They will never release two redesigned products at the same time, lest they cannibalize sales.

If you frequent these forums in the month preceding MWNY I predict bitter disappointment when your by then impossibly raised expectations are not met.

OS X 10.2 - It's the biggest absolute NEED, and it's already passed Steve's mythical 12 hour plan

    faster Powerbooks (667 - 800 MHz) - this is a gimme

G4 iBooks (700 MHz) - why not? Everything else has one.

Powermac stays at 1 GHz - the G4 is at the end of its rope IMO

iMac stays at 800 MHz - production problems solved, prices lowered to original levels as supply problems ease

    some other Digital Hub iDevice

    TING5

PB speed bump, no res change, no video card change

iBook 700 MHz G3, 30 GB HD, 256 MB RAM, no change to video card

iMac 700-1Ghz, 60-80 GB, 256 MB, same screen, same video card, no price drop

PM 1.0 to 1.4 GHZ, larger HDs, faster bus maybe, no other changes

iPod no changes, no price drop

    iTunes, iMovie, iDVD 3.0

    iPhoto 2.0
