    The upgrade makers can't even get the 745x G4's to work in G3's,

    Steve, not sure about this, but isn't it more of a heat issue than a CPU compatibility issue? Just curious.

    it's a logic issue, the chipset used in the G3 (Motorola 106) isn't compatable with the 745x G4.



    The offical line from Sonnet is that there is a heat problem - it's bullshit, just like their justification of selling overclocked processors.

    I think upgrade cards are a rip off anyway. If you want a PPC970. You'll be much better off buying a new system or waiting a year and picking one up used.
