I was looking at some external hard drives for video capture from my dv cam and I was wondering what was the lowest speed that I need? I was looking at the FireLites which have a 4200 rpm cause they are so small that way I could do my editing on the road. They must be self powered and small. Any recomendations?

thanks

chris

I beilive 5400 is the lowest you want to go for video. I am not quite sure. I went for the whole hog, when I bought a external hard drive, got a 7200 rpm. Its really nice, I can plug the camera dirrectly into the external.

Yeah, the 7200 drives are the best especially with 8 MB of cache in it. OS X really flies on those drives.
