Don't take away income from poor people. If the you choose to manufacture in places where people are poor than overlook what's going on and let local goverment and society address it, not my investment in Apple.
Did you miss the "forced labor" part? These aren't poor people being made to work long hours. These are an ethnically targeted group of people being rounded up, thrown into "re-education" camps, and sent off to work in factories against their will.
IF it was really forced then you would be right.
But I would not trust the the U.S. Dept of Commerce to tell me what color black is -- particularly when it comes to China. They, along with the Treasury Dept, have been the hub of implementing Trump's smear and hate campaign against China. And now, as their end nears, they are throwing as much fuel on the flames as they can.
And, as we are seeing so clearly now with our election, these clowns rely on allegations rather than evidence to complete their mission: take down China.
The U.S. Dept of Commerce is one of many U.S. government agencies that will need to be decontaminated and depoliticized.
Right on cue. @georebmac in to save the day for poor old China that just has a stellar track record when it comes to human rights. I’ve been wondering, back when they had the one child rule, and mothers had the option to either kill their baby girl or put the up for adoption to countries like the US, what was your defense back then?
Right on cue another China Hater pops up from under his rock to condemn China for something Trump's shills have accused them of....
When was the last time China put kids in cages, killed over 1/4 million of its citizens, encouraged and supported NeoNazis and gunned down unarmed black men? What was your defense back then? Oh yeh! Blame China!
Neither does Trump. Cages -- Obama. Those famous pics are from Obamas time. The US nor Trump has not killed 1/4 of its citizens. Trump has not supported Neonazis. Your Charlottesville fantasies have been thoroughly debunked. Unarmed black man are not being gunned down innocently or at higher rates than any other unarmed men. In fact, white men are more likely to be shot by police in any given encounter with the police per govt statistics.
Your total claims and life assumptions are totally unsupportable and incorrect.
And about the China forced labor of the Muslim groups. My wife regularly reads Japanese news through Twitter and regularly shows me news articles about this that have nothing to do with the US Govt or Trump. You really should seek counseling and help for your irrational Trump hatred and fears.
The research is clear: White people are not more likely than Black people to be killed by police
Number of people shot to death by the police in the United States from 2017 to 2020, by race
The rate of fatal police shootings
among Black Americans was much higher than that for any other
ethnicity, standing at 33 fatal shootings per million of the population
as of November 2020.
As a man of color I ask you to please open your eyes. Not all cops are bad and not all are profiling and targeting Black Americans and I don't agree with the Police defunding nutters, but your comment above regarding shootings is just plain wrong.
My other half is doing a contact tracing and follow up study for the Dept of Health here in PA. The # 1 driving reason that black men don't want to wear masks during COVID even though they know it helps is fear of police while wearing a mask, and going out and about in public with a mask on for fear of reaction of other people or police. They are more inclined to wear N95's or those one use medical masks as opposed to Gators or anything made outside of the medical or professional industry. That is one of the saddest things I have ever heard.
I do agree with George's irrational defense of China and anyone that defies his ideas is labeled a Trumper or brainwashed by Trump. I just posted about this a couple of days ago.
Chadbag: "Unarmed black man are not being gunned down innocently or at higher rates than any other unarmed men. In fact, white men are more likely to be shot by police in any given encounter with the police per govt statistics. "
Would you please give us a link to some of these statistics? Is the statistic a rate, or just a number? * Ask for evidence * Follow the money * Consider the source
I'll see if I can find the source again. I believe that the ultimate source was the FBI uniform crime statistics. Note that it was specifically per encounter. In other words in any given encounter a white man was lore likely to be shot by police. For various reasons, the rate of encounters is higher for black men in many demographics, so per capita more black men are shot by police (in both black and white cases the actual number is small).
I really hope this doesn't become like the #MeToo movement where companies and other people will make allegations just to bring companies down. Apple would need to investigate and find proof.

No, I quite happy because I'm not fool enough to believe Trump and his right wing propaganda.

Our U.S. government is not a poster-child for all things utopia, but if you're comparing our faults to China that is carrying out forced labor camps, system imprisonment (i.e. "re-education camps") of the Uygur people, executions and disappearances of people critical of the CCP, and a whole slew of other atrocities, then you sir need to take a moment and check that your head is screwed on straight.
You seem too eager to blame all of America's failings on the last four years of Trump. Last time I checked, the U.S. has had many more presidents before him.
China's the next cold-war problem. How you can defend the wretched CCP with all of its documented human-rights (not to mention it's environmental record) just leaves my head scratching, and this is the same attitude I've had with China for decades.
No, you are 100% correct. Those failings go back a lot further than Trump.
But, for some reason Trumpers can't see them. They are only able to see perceived, mostly unsubstantiated failings of China.
Must be the brain washing. Or the agenda -- the one many despots follow: "Look over there!" Or, in rare moment of honesty Trump admitted that it was all about blocking China from displacing us as the world's #1 economy.
And you are also correct that, if the Trumpers get their way, we WILL be in a cold war with China.
We were in one before and were smart enough to extricate ourselves from it. But Trumpers just don't seem to be that smart.

You've never said why you have China's back in every instance, so much trust and faith in them no matter what the claim is or the amount of evidence emanating from multiple sources, some from within China, supporting reports of malfeasance and human rights violations taking place there. Not one single instance of you saying you don't agree with some Chinese government action taken. Not one.

Since it was Trump who originated and propagated this campaign to fear, hate, and smear China, I don't see why labeling those who propagate his nonsense as Trumpers could be anything but logical. Sorry.
If China was as bad as these fools say, then the Pacific nations would not have just signed the largest trade deal in the history of the world with them. One that pointedly omits the U.S.
As for defunding the police, yes there are a few who advocate doing just that. But what the term has come to mean for most is funding complimentary services that can work alongside the police and help them do their jobs better -- things like social workers and therapists. Right now our very militarized police forces are simply not well equipped to deal with things like mental illnesses and domestic disputes and the intervention too often ends badly. Most cops, I believe would be pleased to receive the help those services could provide.

You also don't believe the Chinese are doing anything harmful to the Uyghurs despite an increasing mountain of evidence from investigative reporters, foreign governments, and certain sources from within China that they are. All it takes is China says they are not and for you that's proof enough.
On the other hand you don't require any evidence that the US Commerce Dept is lying about evidence of forced Muslim labor being used in China, a part of the reported ethnic cleansing underway for populations in their country who do not consider themselves Madarin. So did you believe China's government was being honest when their delegation appeared before a UN Committee in Geneva April of 2018 and the senior Communist Party spokesman Hu Lainhe unequivocally stated “There is no such thing as re-education centers,” China did not target any ethnic minority, Mr. Hu said; its ethnic minorities live in peace and contentment enjoying freedom of religious belief.
If the Chinese government was not being honest then why do you so wholeheartedly believe they are telling the truth now, just two years later. BTW, contrary to your implications Trump has been very oddly quiet about the Uyghurs and their situation even though some US agencies have weighed in.
Careful, your agenda is showing and it's neither fact nor reality based.

Before Trump became president China was a business concern, not an enemy and not an evil empire.
So, no, there was no reason for me to do what I've been doing: calling bull to his bull and that of his cult worshipers and shills.
Hopefully the country can return to reality and verified evidence rather than these smear campaigns created and propagated by Trump and Trumpers. But the right wing propaganda machine won't be going anywhere (it may even continue to lead and be led by Trump). So my hopes are not great.

On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, all of that changes. It will be the Biden Administration that will be stating allegations about China. One thing that I am quite aware of, is that there's really not much room left for accommodation with China, and that's across the political spectrum, and not just in the U.S.
@Mike%20Wuerthele Why is it the majority of retorts to GeorgeBMac's crap were deleted, leaving him ranting about "Trumpers" and "China haters" into space without refute, and without deleting his claims that are as baseless as Trump's election fraud claims? Doesn't exactly seem even-handed. It was on-topic since it was on the subject of forced labor, apparently GeorgeBMac thinks Apple is lying. There are BLM related posts that are totally off topic that are still up.

There are BLM related posts that are totally off topic that are still up.
Why would they leave the baseless, factless propaganda to stand without any refutation?
The fact is: you guys fill the forum up with right wing propaganda but you can't stand to be challenged and so you lash out with personal attacks -- which were deleted.

George, don't be smug., All the posts that were considered personal were deleted.Several of yours were among those.
The moderators/admins were much more patient than I would have expected. Job well done IMO. Several of us posted inappropriately.

Except as discussed ad nauseam, that is not a fact. As we have said in other posts we are not right wing propagandists - as I said I don't even live in the US; but your agenda is blinding you to the real state of China. You refuse to criticise any aspect of China whatsoever.
WRT Trump, someone agreeing with something someone says doesn't mean they idolise that person, to think that is the case shows very simplistic understanding oh human psyche. By your own metric Apple must be a raving right wing pro-Trump company, as they are dropping a supplier who is using forced labor. You have baselessly claimed these abuses in China aren't happening with nothing to back that up - just like Trump has done with your apparent election fraud.
And remember, you were the one with personal attacks, calling people "trumpers" for example, but for some reason you seem to think your personal insults are ok because they're anti-trump - whether the target is as you say a "trumper" or not.

I wouldn't agree actually. They left up plenty of GeorgeBMac's rants with zero sources, his claims that Trump started all this by inventing allegations (despite being provided with articles showing China's abuses pre-Trump), no answers to the questions repeatedly posed by other posters, and deleted our refutes to that - many of which were backed up by numerous different sources. George isn't discussing nor engaging with us, he's just acting like a stuck pro-China record.
Ah, I may have found why GeorgeBMac is so blindly defensive of China: He invests in Asia.
In a similarly contrarian mode, GeorgeBMac, and a few other posters, likes the Matthews funds, which focus on investing in Asia
Not sure why investors here get so defensive over their investment - it's not like any comment here is going to make one iota of difference to their holdings.

Yeh, I get it that you like to spread Trump's hate and propaganda of China. But don't want to be labelled a Trumper or a China Hater. Got it.

The research is clear: White people are not more likely than Black people to be killed by police

The rate of fatal police shootings among Black Americans was much higher than that for any other ethnicity, standing at 33 fatal shootings per million of the population as of November 2020./s
I really hope this doesn't become like the #MeToo movement where companies and other people will make allegations just to bring companies down. Apple would need to investigate and find proof.
No, I quite happy because I'm not fool enough to believe Trump and his right wing propaganda.
You need to branch out from your propaganda outlets.
On the other hand you don't require any evidence that the US Commerce Dept is lying about evidence of forced Muslim labor being used in China, a part of the reported ethnic cleansing underway for populations in their country who do not consider themselves Madarin. You just accept that they probably are.
