wireless not 802.11/blue tooth suggestions

hello,



I am looking for sugesstions on the best wireless network connection that's not 802.11 for a laptop.



i have a 15" Ti book as well as a vaio. which is better, to get an adapter for my cell phone or to use a dedicated card in the pc card card/cardbus slot? is there any cards and or services out there that are mac and windows campatible?



as well.. has anyone sucessfully used the Sprint cards/service in an apple laptop?



i do a lot a travel and i am looking for an alternative to having to find a land line to use whenever 802.11 is not available.
