Why is 'UK ish' text full of question marks (?)

When reading online British tabloids the text is full of question marks instead of ('). Why does this happen, do the Brits use a different Font table? Why does this happen?

    Which ones? It really shouldnt matter since the webby should state what encoding it is using.

    Virtually every british page behaves like that, the tabloids, broadsheets you name it. I was reading car test on 'www.topgear.com' and it's full of question marks as well??? Nice to meet a Scoucer in here ) The Reds will will make it next year

    top gear looks fine to me! I assume you mean you are seeing "we?re" instead of "we're"??

    topgear looks fine to me too.



    What browser are you using? Safari, Mozilla, and OmniWeb all display it fine on my Mac.
