As I looked through the latest Mac Directory (which is a pretty cool "mac" magazine in a way that most others aren't) I noticed near the front a compnay with some fairly inovative desks. They use a horizontal crank, sprocket and chain arrangement to lift/lower the surface and have a cool way of dealing with cords in a sort of cable management basket. Nice, but way expensive for steel legs and plywood construction. They were in the 1600 USD range

Can't find the mag ATM, anyone know the company have a Mac Directory handy?

Anyway, then there are the question of other favs. I can't wait to replace this Obus-Forme knee tilter with a real chair, courtesy of Herman Miller, can't fight the Aeron, but must wait due to pesky money/cheapskate issues.

It's been a while: Fav desks, chairs, and other furniture miscellania that will only ever grace your office in the form of cheap Ikea knock offs?

Post 'em up, time for liknks and picks of the office you wish you had! hahaha

If that strap frays enough, it'd be a Bone Smasher. Ouch.

I just had a delayed reaction to the double entendre, hard to figure which bone smashing would be worse.

Hmm. Is this to be used for porn downloading only or are there other times you'd need your legs straddling something???

Add one of these to the mix if you want a porn friendly setup:

I saw a nice little glass, aluminum, and other metal desk at Office Depot the other day, with some neat brushed and punched-holes accents. $99-129, somewhere in that range. I can't seem to find anything like it on their website. Looked like a good value, if I didn't already have a nice crazycurvy wood desk.

I've browsed through one at the bookstore but I've never seen the point in buying one.

Yah, me too, would actually buy it, but since I ofetn use the local bookstore /starbucks as my office I hardly buy magazines when I can just browse/read them over coffee. MacDirectory is pretty good though. Can't remember the name of that company though, darn, you guys need to see those desks, very nice.

There's a store in the mall in Carlsbad (CA) called Desk something or other (Desk 'n' Design? I don't know...).

Anyway, they carry this one...BUT the display model they have is in - you guessed it - ORANGE.

You can only imagine how flushed and excited I became.

They carry it in all the popular old-school iColors. Looks really cool and is well-thought out too!

i kinda like a desk that looks like a desk...not something that (like the ones above) will either perform oral sex or a prostate exam on me.

simple yet beautiful (and way too expensive for me):

    g

pscates...that desk looks like it is use for dentistry to me....

and SPJ...dang, what are you, 80 years old??? My grandma would love that desk.....not gonna grab those young asian girls hearts with a computer desk like that young man....

It's simple, yeah. But I like it. Looks a little better here with a TiBook in the background:

matsu...this? company that makes the blow job desk Brad likes??

    g

who doesn't want to pretend to be space boy while surfing the web???

    1. desktop

    2. erection from surfing porn sites

    3. cord

    4. i don't know why we labeled 4

    5. wheel (so you can name your desk, KIT)

    6. place to hide boogers

    7. slanted desktop

    8. hole to hide cord even though the cord can't be hidden due to the slanted desktop (number 7)

    9. pole (real men would use it for chin-ups...but you are a nerd, so hang photos from Lord of the Ring movies on it instead)

    10. leg of chair (hey, we had to label 10 things according to the boss...who is a complete waste of flesh, but that is a subject for another time)
