Apple has released the second Release Candidate developer betas of iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6.

The newest builds can be downloaded via the Apple Developer Center for those enrolled in the test program, or via an over-the-air update on devices running the beta software. Public betas typically arrive within a few days of the developer versions, via the Apple Beta Software Program website.

The first release candidate was released May 17, after the third beta which occurred on May 10. Round 2 landed on April 30, while the initial betas for this generation were made available on April 22.

Release notes from the first Release Candidate beta stated podcast subscriptions would be included in the release. Apple Card Family is also included in the Release Candidate for pre-release testing.

Apple is also expected to release its Apple Music lossless audio update after iOS 14.6 becomes publicly available. The update will include support for Dolby Atmos music and Spatial Audio.

AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly recommend users don't install the betas on to "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the remote possibility of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to make sure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.
