Protesters stage anti-war march

Quote:

Organisers say between 150,000 and 200,000 people marched through the capital, but Scotland Yard estimated that 20,000 people took part in the rally at Hyde Park - the final meeting point for protesters.

I just love how this rag tag assortment of ex-comunists, "free Palestine" mobs and some generally deluded pseudo peaceniks choose to ignore reality so bluntly. didn't they see the news? its over! the war is done - and despite all their scare-mongering and claims urging everyone to expect 2 million Iraqi dead and general mayhem all over the middle east - it was swift, effective and relatively low on civilian casualties. these people's inability to deal with reality again manifests itself in their ridiculous claims that over 150,000 people attended the anti-war march when the actual number was more like 20,000.

So after all - Bush is not Hitler, Blair is not a sick puddle and the Iraqi people are very thankful for the new life they were just given by these two "war criminals"

Even more amazing is the Muslim world's almost total refusal to notice the sheer joy and national sigh of relief of the Iraqis at the sight of US and UK troops reliving them of the despotic regime that has haunted them for over a quarter of a century.

Get over it - you were wrong - deal with it!

And there's more from that bastion of impartiality and honest unbiased reporting - the Independent (a UK newspaper)

    Quote:

"It is the beginning of our new freedom," an Iraqi shopkeeper shouted at me. Then he paused, and asked: "What do the Americans want from us now?' The great Lebanese poet Kalil Gibran once wrote that he pitied the nation that welcomed its tyrants with trumpetings and dismissed them with hootings of derision. And the people of Baghdad performed this same deadly ritual yesterday, forgetting that they ? or their parents ? had behaved in identical fashion when the Arab Socialist Baath Party destroyed the previous dictatorship of Iraq's generals and princes. Forgetting, too, that the "liberators" were a new and alien and all-powerful occupying force with neither culture nor language nor race nor religion to unite them with Iraq.

Typical trite from the newspaper which has covered this conflict in the most appalling and twisted manner - my dear Robert Fisk, don't let the facts get in the way of your reporting...

I think the Iraqi minister of information would feel very much at home as a corespondent of the Independent.

I always suspected that Groverat. The misplacement of your facial hair never fooled me.

Just remember that the ambitions of Groverism will be defeated by the will of free peoples, by the strength of great alliances and by the might of the European Union.

I doubt any event might shatter deep ideological convictions, but marching to prevent what already happened? Even if justice were on their side (hint: it is not) it should be wise to reckon when reason is not.

But then, some of my best friends still rabidly oppose the cancellation of Zehu Zeh, reality be damned.

Is there an EU agency in charge of anti-Groveratism? If not we should create one. If we can persuade the Franco-German block to strongarm the British into going along grudgingly then we can immediately start the 17 month long argument about where it is to be based. Of course, in doing so we must also be mindful that we are certain that French farmers receive proper compensation to protect them the effects of groverat. I recommend massive subsidies and a stiffening of agro-tariffs on those who would try to flood the marketplace and dilute the earnings of French farmers.

I know a perfect guy looking for work as an information minister for such an agency.
