i usually like tax time for exactly 3.7 reasons:

    i. i tend to overpay excessively, so mr. moneybags throws me back a large gift, so does mr statey state statesmen [though not for a while].

    2) i do mine like a month or two in advance, so now time is chill.

    c- i'm the man.

    3.7- refer back to [c]

I finished my taxes on the 11th using Turbo Tax Online and my Mac. I choose their most expensive version this year which was $100 for federal and state combined. I did this because I had to file about desolving a 403b, selling a rental property and recapturing depreciation, buying two new rental properties, etc....

The fact that I was able to do all that with interview questions and having all my info handy was pretty amazing to me.

I'm getting $2000 back. (Must resist 12 inch powerbook)

I gave up on paying someone to do it a long time ago. Mine is always complicated enough for them to demand $200-300 and that was 4 years ago when I gave up on them.

Mine are too easy to start early. No kids no house, W2 standard deduction tax table done. The only "hard" part is that I move within the year and had to split the state tax between MI and IL. Since I'm writing a check there's no rush to pay early.

I e-filed for the first time this year, and it cost about $50 state and federal. I have mixed feelings about it - it's convenient, and definitely more "fun" than doing it on paper, but probably not worth it, at least for me. I itemized for the first time this year, because I bought a house in 2002. But it still would have been extremely simple.

Kinda. Still waiting for a K-1, so had to file an extention. Damn. I did manage to pay quarterlies this year though . I didn't last year....my sphincter still aches from that little 'oversight'.

Damn, some of you people are cutting it close. The IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board both have already deposited my checks.
