United Airlines now accepts Apple Health COVID vaccination records

Apple users flying United Airlines can show their Apple Health documentation, within Apple Wallet, to speed up sharing verified vaccination details before travelling.

The United Airlines "Travel-Ready Center" is the company's attempt to streamline booking flights, boarding safely, and travelling with the airline. It's an attempt to speed up the process and cut down on inconvenience for both passengers and airport ground staff, plus it now includes Apple Health.

United's book service online, and in the airline's app, takes customers through specific steps which have included a "complete your requirements" stage. This is where users can now submit their vaccination records directly from Apple Health.

"Share your SMART Health Card," says the app. "If you've added a SMART Health Card for your COVID-19 vaccination to the Apple Health app, share the record to skip agent review."

People who don't use Apple Health still have the option to upload test paperwork, or vaccination document. These are then manually reviewed by a United Airlines agent.

Full details of the process are in the United Airlines app and available to read once users have entered a flight number. A description of all United's health and coronavirus precautions is on the company's Travel-Ready Center website.

    If you mean your vaccination card info, it's dependent on where/how you got your vaccinations. Mine where though a particular pharmacy that uses Clear. I had to install Clear's app to jump through their hoops to get it done, but they don't currently link to the Health app as far as I can tell.

    Got mine at a County Health Department. Just gave me the paper card.

    Got mine at a County Health Department. Just gave me the paper card. 
    I only received a paper card, too, but I was able to find that my pharmacy partnered with Clear for a digital vaccination card. I'd contact your county health dept. to see if they have made their digital records part of an online program. Hopefully yours is connected to Apple's Health app.

    I'm liking United!  they have also started to terminate any remaining unvaccinated employees.  Crowded airports and planes are dangerous enough without super spreaders endangering others.

    But, as others asked above:  Where and how do you get vaccine documentation into Apple Health?  And for that matter, Apple Health is locked down pretty tight on your phone -- once data goes in it's hard to share it with others.   It would seem that Apple Wallet would be a better place for it.

    I live in Washington and they're one of a few states using MyIR, including the MyIR Mobile app. The website talks about the SMART Health Card but I haven't been able to figure out if the vaccination card they have on file for me (only a pdf) can be converted into a SMART Health Card. I got my vaccination at our local hospital, of course a paper card, but the vaccination pdf comes from the WA Dept of Health so I assume sooner or later they'll produce the 2D barcode that will work with MyIR along with the SMAR Health Card. My IR does show some of my vaccinations but I'd really like to have all of my medical records handled in one secure place. Is that the WA DOH?

    Your a lot further along than I am.   I was vaccinated (twice) in a county run clinic.  But, when I saw my PCP she told they never reported it to the state DoH -- so there was no record of me other than the little paper thing they gave me.

    It mystifies why we spend hundreds of billions defending ourselves against invaders who have no intention of invading.   But strip our public health agencies of funding, technology, R&D and talent leaving us vulnerable to invasion by little microscopic invaders who have so far killed 700,000 and infected and sickened millions more.
