I've been thinking about the whole "new button setup" thing, and I think that there might be a button in each corner of the scroll wheel, so it still looks cool, and has the 'tactile feedback' that Eugene mentioned.

    Like this:

    O O

    (scrollwheel)

    O O

    Each 'O' is a button.

I kinda like the 4 buttons in a row (better than in the corners). Having them in each corner of the iPod would require your fingers to travel farther. Maybe some crazy layout like the way the Gamecube's buttons are arranged would be cool.

Classic iPod still is king tho. Nice clean interface. Let's see if Apple amazes us all.

Could it be that this bit of info:

....is actually the rumored docking station for the new iPod?

or they could arrange the buttons like this:

    o o o o

    (scroll)

    o o o o

dividing the ipod in half, all four buttons would be identical on both sides, this way you could hit all four buttons on either side of the unit with the tips of your fingers if you were right-handed (as most people are) or left-handed

    As a left-handed, Canadian warlock - I resent that.
